Ibi: Smart Photo Storage for Who You Want to Share It With

March 23, 2019 By Autumn Rose Reo 2 Comments

Have photos in the cloud, sky, on your computer and everywhere else? Get it together in one spot and share your photos too with ibi smart photo storage.

This post was sponsored by the makers of ibi, who also sent me the product for review.

I am an admitted pack rat.

I have boxes in my office dedicated to putting the kids’ school crafts, remnants of cute notes they’ve drawn, greeting cards they’ve received, ticket stubs and of course, all their class photos.

That’s the kids’ boxes – you should see the ones I have for myself and for work.

ibi - photo

So it’s no secret that my phone’s photo album acts like a digital version of all the photos and events of our lives. Then add on an event I’m covering or an impromptu blog post or social media opportunity and photos stack up quick.

Currently my phone reads at 20,000+ photos and 2,000+ videos.
2500 are just from the beginning of this year.

And before you ask, yes, I also back up.

There’s iCloud, Dropbox, and Box. Hey I even have some CDs burned with old photos like from our trip to Italy, our wedding in Puerto Vallarta, and Jackson’s once-in-a-lifetime Wish Trip to Disney World. And I pay for all the subscriptions and their expanded storage.

And none of them are complete collections.

And that’s before you count the backup boxes we also have of the actual photos. Then to share, I normally upload to Facebook to share with my network or send via text five at a time to my parents. And after all that, I’m spent and I don’t share much of anything else because it’s just a lot of work.

Italy-trafalgar-mamachallenge

Another issue is that I don’t always want to share photos with everyone. I want to make sure that I documented the moment for me and my family, but it doesn’t mean I want to share it with my network of friends on social (work, church friends, or acquaintances.) Considering not every shot is award-winning and ready to be put on social, doesn’t mean that I don’t want to keep it and in some instances, share it.

Besides one day my kids will be on social and I know there are some shots they’d rather mom not share to the Interweb:)

Needless to say, it takes a lot to keep and share memories at your fingertips.

ibi - photo

That’s why ibi might be your next best friend.

Don’t know ibi?

Well think of your own personal hub for all photos for all your devices that automatically makes sure your best moments are always saved, all in one place. But even better, ibi makes it easy to connect with your inner circle of family and friends (whomever you’d want) to receive photos, but not to everyone on your social media list. I mean there are times you want people on social to see that first day of school pic or maybe that travel shot you took when you get home from vacation, but with ibi, you can make sure it’s just your mom and dad or your sisters. And if you don’t want anyone but your hubs to see your shots, then don’t worry, you set up your circle to make sure it’s only who you want who can receive what photos you have on ibi.

ibi - photo

Set up is a cinch…you just plug ibi in, download the app, and get ready to directly upload those photos. Done.

Hey, with all the other mamachallenges you have happening, if you snap that perfect shot, don’t you want to make sure you don’t lose it and most of all, don’t necessarily share it with the world?

ibi - photo

That’s what ibi smart photo can do for you so you can keep taking the photos and enjoying them!

Stop the Business of Being Busy

March 19, 2019 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

Feel like you’re always busy? Feel like you’re not busy enough? Quit the comparisons and stop the Business of Being Busy.

Thanks to McDonalds of North Texas for reminding all us ladies that we are more than enough, we’re worth it with this sponsored post.

I have a lot of quirks.

I hate the sound of repetitive tapping.

I despise people who stand up on airplanes when you land in hopes to be the first to deboard.

I cannot even handle it when people take phone calls in public places like the doctor’s office and talk like no one else is in the room.

I could keep going on for days, but probably the thing I hate to hear the most?

I need a wife

[yes, imagine this is me. Like right now. Or maybe you, but you get it.]

Hearing women rattle off how busy they are.

Yes, I said it. And oh yes, I’ve done it.

Hey I get it, we all have so much to do. Like crazy amounts of things – some because we have to, some because we volunteered to, some because we want to, and a lot because we just feel like we have no choice otherwise.

But why is it we feel so compelled to list it like a badge of honor? And then use it to make other people feel bad (or you feel bad from hearing it and think, “wow, I should be doing more!”)

It’s true, as women, especially those that are moms, we do a lot. No matter what we do in our personal or professional lives, most women don’t just have one job. We normally have like 3 or 4…or 5 or 6…well multiple jobs and many of them go unpaid. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development says women do more than 4.5 hours of work every day that is unpaid and it’s considered Women’s unpaid work is the backbone of the American economy. Says a lot, right?

But whether you have a big important job with a corner office or your window is the one you look out of every day as you nurse your kid, we work a lot and we wear a lot of hats…some we love, some we don’t, but it is what we do.

With the nature of my job and I often get asked, “what is it that you do?”

Talbots

Sometimes, I just say marketing. But when the real answer is the only one that will do, I take a deep breathe and list off the list of what roles and responsibilities I have like a resume.

“…And oh yea, I have 2 kids and have been married since 2006.”

And it doesn’t even begin to really say what I do most days. But for every woman I know, that’s the case. We do it and we don’t even share the whole story because most of us don’t ever feel like it’s actually enough.

“I’m not working out enough.”

“I’m not volunteering enough.”

“I don’t cook enough.”

“I’m not home enough.”

“I’m not good enough.”

Man, the detriment we all do to ourselves with this thinking. But you know it’s true.

Being a woman and being a mom isn’t what we do, how much or how little, it’s how you live between the crazy that really matters.

For me:

It’s Sunday mornings when I steal a few moments of silence before my family wakes up wrapped up on the couch with nothing but silence.

It’s when I’ve had a super early morning, when I can stop through McDonalds and grab a medium cup of McCafè coffee (my favorite coffee bar none), hot and just the way I like it with three creamers. And then I can also grab hot breakfast for the kids and roll into the house just before they wake up to see a smile and the look of surprise!

McDonalds (1 of 9)

It’s that opportunity when someone smiles at you or gives you a compliment or even better when you offer the smile that makes a big difference in your day and theirs!

Those are actually the sweet moments, especially those that you share with others, that bring us real joy that we should be judged by not the list of how much we do:)

McDonalds (1 of 9)

This month McDonald’s all of us women and moms to share how you celebrate your own simple moments with LUNCH BUNCH! At each event, kids will be able to participate family friendly activities, including balloon twisters, face painters, arts and crafts and of course, to enjoy Play Place – to name a few! And you get a chance to talk with other women especially about women in business during Women’s History Month.

Garland ISD Students Serve Up Success

February 27, 2019 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

There’s no better way to learn than getting hands-on, real experience. At Garland ISD, the students are getting skills for tomorrow’s jobs today.

Thank you to the students, staff and City of Garland for their hospitality and sponsoring this eye-opening post.

When a private invite for an extraordinary six-course Mardi Gras meal comes to your inbox, you say “oui.”

But when you find out the hands that are going to make said meal are those of high school students, you go wondering if you’re part of an episode of Top Chef Junior.

But when I walked into the doors of The Bistro at Garland ISD Gilbreath-Reed Career and Technical Center, I figured out this was not the high school experience I remembered. Not by a long shot.

The Bistro is the student-led restaurant operated by the students of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality programs. The restaurant give students wishing to work in the restaurant, hotel, tourism industries not only hands-on opportunity for planning, preparing, serving and designing, but also certifications that can get them a job the minute they graduate – or in many cases – a job right after they leave for the day on campus. The benefit for the community is now a new place to have breakfast Wednesday – Friday, 8 AM – 1 am and lunch, 11 am – 2 pm with very affordable pricing like $8 jambalaya and $6 gumbo.

Led by Director Etienne Walker and taught by Chefs Rob Richards and Alex Bar-Sela, the students really went to the next level to give us the royal treatment to remember with decor and an elevated hospitality experience as they served us each with an offering of the drink de jour, the Smokin’ Jamba Juice served with frozen grapes and a dry ice “icicle” or the Mardi Gras Smoothie, layered perfectly for the occasion.

And the menu, which was served for the day’s special debut, was brought out to each guest with both presentation and outstanding taste. I mean this wasn’t just homemade cooking, this one upscale culinary skills like exemplified with the sugar crisp that hugged the baby ontop of a bread pudding with a dollop of cream was really delicious, but each of the entrees were just THAT GOOD.

While I had a very full and happy belly thanks to these students, learning that this state-of-the-art training center, which opened in August 2017, was just two of 90 advanced programs available to students had really whet my appetite.  The school, which supports all seven home high schools, gives real-world experience to students in careers from everything medical, investments, architectural, marketing, engineering, firefighting, logistics, and automotive mechanics.

But this school exists through a lot of diligent work with the municipal and business communities. Working hand in hand with the City of Garland, having a school of choice program on this level, makes it attractive for all the area students to want to be a part of the school system. And the corporate world sees the benefits as well, which is why many well-known companies invest time and money to these students to prepare them for careers inside their own doors one day.

Each “classroom” looked nothing like a traditional classroom, but a slice of the “real world” and in some cases beyond. For instance, this program is the only high school in the world partnered with Harley Davidson motorcycles for the Battle of the Kings to custom build a 2019 bike and have it compete against other groups from all over the world.

Garland ISD

While they won’t let you enroll at GRCTC as an adult (I know I was ready to enroll), they do invite visitors to dine at The Bistro. And of course, there’s always the bigger benefit that we are getting tomorrow’s workforce ready for careers, today.

Women Need Pricks: Acupuncture is the Answer for “Girl Problems”

February 24, 2019 By Autumn Rose Reo 13 Comments

Suffer from pain, sleep issues, obesity, stress, menopause or wrinkles? Getting pricked instead of prescriptions through acupuncture can be the way to a better life, especially for women.

Thank you to Modern Acupuncture for sharing the practice of acupuncture.

Do you suffer from pain, sleep issues, obesity, stress, menopause or wrinkles?

Of course you do, you’re a woman. And if you’re a mom, you probably have a whole host of other issues caused by your lovely children.

I, for one, can credit the birth of the son also contributor to many issues, but most notably my sciatic nerve damage. My boobs give me some other pain, and my since lack of sleep would provide some super problems including my lovely dark circles. While I’ve tried over the years to help with these problems (the list is long), it’s not always so easy and has many times included medication – and I hate taking medicine unless it’s absolutely necessary. I often have thought about acupuncture and was interested in the practice, but I had some idea of Mr. Miyagi stabbing me with hypodermic needles. Stupid I know, but that’s how ignorant I was until I walked into Modern Acupuncture.

Modern Acupuncture

What’s Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a versatile treatment of Chinese medicine that’s been used for more than 2500 years. Using thin-like needles inserted in specific locations throughout the body, the treatment initiates an increase in blood flow while decreasing inflammation. The result helps to release the body’s feel-good chemicals (all the feels), boosts immune system, improve mobility, (and a whole list of stuff), all while alleviating symptoms for several conditions including:

  • chronic pain and tight muscles
  • stress
  • sleep issues
  • digestive problems
  • wrinkles and loose skin
  • and recently just discovered, menopause.

And best of all, there’s no medication, no downtime, and it takes little time to administer.

Modern Acupuncture

Modern Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture Like?

Before I walked into the door I was able to schedule my appointment and complete my paperwork before even walking in the door. My first visit walking into Modern Acupuncture was like a better version of Starbucks without all the people. Immediately I was calmed and so ready to find relief of all the outside world. Once checked in, I was motioned into a beautiful set of intricate doors and led to a massaging recliner in front of a screen with beautiful scenery to enjoy.

Modern Acupuncture

Modern Acupuncture

The practitioner came to me and after discussing what symptoms and conditions I was suffering from, created a treatment plan including where the 25 needles (thin as a single hair) would be inserted through my body. I took and deep breath…and then it was all done. Honestly, it not only didn’t hurt AT ALL, but also took him no time injected the needles and I was off to quiet time. After 30 minutes, I was done, where I was then greeted with my tea order and off to take on the rest of the world, once again.

Modern Acupuncture

Does Acupuncture Work?

A lot like any medication or treatment, acupuncture isn’t an immediate fix after one session. It’s about a succession of appointments designed to be refined by your own needs. I have had one appointment and while I’m scheduled for multiple, I can’t say everything feels like I’m walking on air – yet. HOWEVER, I can attest my sleep has been much deeper, much longer, and my back pain has been decreased considerably. And I can’t wait for my next appointment (I’ll post my experience on my Instagram, so make sure to follow!)

Want to Try Acupuncture?

Would you like to try Acupuncture? With 5 locations in DFW and many more in the U.S., there’s one close to you! AND when you print this offer (this is a pdf) you can get a free acupuncture session from mamachallenge to any of the five DFW locations to Modern Acupuncture. (Just make sure to bring it with you and mention the offer when you book your appointment!) After your first session, you can purchase one-off appointments or a package that works for you.

Anti-Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day Ideas

February 13, 2019 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

Do you think of Valentine’s Day is the saddest, coldest, most depressing day of the year? No date? No problem. Make Valentine’s Day an opportunity to celebrate your singledom with these Anti-Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day Ideas.

Affiliate links may be included.

I’m gonna be honest…Valentine’s Day is not my favorite holiday. I might be married now, but I can count not one, but two different Valentine’s Days I had a breakup. And there were plenty of V-days that there wasn’t anyone around at all including the year I spent Valentine’s Day at the movie theatre watching “Titanic.”

That was definitely a sinker.

But I learned early that if you make the best of it and celebrate with the girls, then you definitely will feel the love. And if you still are harboring a little rage and anger towards that ex-someone when Valentine’s Day rolls around, you can use the day to rid yourself of all those ill-feelings and move on.

Road Trip Worthy: Decatur Texas

February 3, 2019 By Autumn Rose Reo 4 Comments

Here is our guide to make the best of it when all you have is 24 hours. Here’s how to take a Day Trip to Decatur Texas that is road trip worthy. #24hourvacay

Thanks to Decatur, Texas for showing us how much fun you can have in Eighter from Decatur!

500 times. At least.

That’s the number of times that I have probably been to Decatur, Texas.

Actually, that’s the number of times I’ve driven THROUGH Decatur.

Decatur Texas 24 hours

Going home from college, Decatur was a mandatory thoroughfare between arrival and departure but other than a bathroom break, but I never had a reason to stop. So I didn’t have a clue about. So when the opportunity to spend a day exploring Decatur, I was like “what is it I haven’t seen?” But part of me really did want to know…

Like anything in Texas – don’t underestimate the adventure you can find where ever you go.

Decatur Texas 24 hours

“The best part of waking up” in Decatur, Texas is with a rich, butter cup of joe from Trinity Street Coffee. Just because the county seat of Wise is home to around 6,700 people, this coffee stop is top notch. Entering the doors, you’re met with a cool Rustic / Industrial Chic (from the awe-inspiring copper counter top to the swan head faucet in the bathroom.) I couldn’t help but order a cup of Autumn Spice (which is one of the best coffees I’ve ever had tasting just like what you think fall tastes like- complete with a beautiful heart in the middle, which served as a sign you’ll love this place as much as me.) Either take a seat now or come back later for drinks and Ezra Cigars, as the coffee shop serves as as a full bar, menu, and even cigars (there’s even a story about those.) But don’t worry – the “cigar lounge” is outside outback.

Decatur Texas 24 hours

Decatur Texas 24 hours

Once armed with coffee, you could spend hours walking the square, especially taking a look at the beautiful courthouse, a cornerstone of a beautiful Texas town. With so much history to appreciate here, don’t underestimate the new ways people have “married” old and new in this cool quirky town from where to sleep, where to eat, and where to have some fun.

Before you leave the square (or in this case, the block) make sure you take time for all the shops, stores and unique finds you’ll discover – just like Hey Sugar, the beloved candy shop (also in Roanoke) that is as much for the adults as it is the kids!

Decatur Texas 24 hours

Decatur Texas 24 hours

Decatur Texas 24 hours

Talk about unique finds, but artwork wasn’t exactly what I was going to find in Decatur – but I was wrong. Between this phone booth (no it doesn’t work) art installation from Mark Moran and the Decatur mural and sculpture by these two brothers, you’ll find all kinds of pieces throughout the city. Even the courthouse is a piece of art.

What to Do in Decatur

There was plenty of fun to be had while in Decatur. And with my superhero skill, I was able to sniff out a winery just a few miles out of town in Avord at Marker Cellars.

Decatur Texas

Decatur

Decatur

Once considered Mark’s (and his lovely horse-riding bride, Becky) retirement “project” (yes, Mark is the Mark in Marker Cellars), this beautiful spot in the middle of some acreage is now a the go-to-place for those who are in the know (like his cell phone or a member of the wine list) for some award-winning wines. Making both whites (my favorite: Escarpment, a Rhone-style blend of three rich French varietals: Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier) and reds (took a bottle home of Lightning Cab) to enjoy, not just for the tastes, but also the stories that went with them. Lucky for us, we asked enough questions, Mark took us to see how the magic happens with the Lightning Cab, which is is barreled aged in American Oak and then whiskey barrels.

And we got the first sip from Barrel #1.

While we headed out to the winery on a Thursday, Marker Cellars is open Thursday – Sunday, noon – 6 pm. There’s often music and when the temps in Texas are warm, you can head outside to enjoy the beautiful LBJ Grasslands that is an Eco-friendly environment, supporting the re-introduction of Quail and Dove into the sensitive National Forest system.

Decatur

Once you have the creative juices flowing, it’s time to see what you make at DIY Studio Decatur. This family sign-furniture-decor-everything place makes everything! And then they also help you to make everything too with workshops where you can make anything (almost) that your mind will take you!

Decatur Texas 24 hours

And walking through the shop, you might notice several things that look very familiar when you head to that small spot out in Waco…owned and operated by a couple named Chip and Jo. (This family makes some of the beautiful pieces you pick up and take home!) We all got to making our own pieces – from finishing, design, color, and more (but they were there to make sure we stayed on the right path!)

Where to Stay in Decatur

Yes, there are many spots to stay in Decatur if you want more time to explore more (or had a real good time at Marker Cellars.)

The Courthouse Suites is a prime location on the square and above a beautiful yoga studio. The space, which used to be a brothel, is an exciting blend of character and history to give you a real “taste” of what Decatur was and what you want to make of it. One of the biggest suites (Square View) is a picture right out of the mid-century / mod with a touch of luxury and a lot of fun. Just take a look of the books, furniture and fixtures. (This place has stories!)

But if what you were looking for is more of rustic/traditional country feel, they also have you covered with the Bunk House. Complete with everything you’d want in the bunkhouse including a loft bed room up the ladder for you and all your gang.

Decatur Texas 24 hours

A little further down on Main Street, you’ll find the Inn on Main Street that’s slated to open in Spring 2019. Renovated, designed, and operated by a mother-daughter duo, this historic home is planned to be a bed/breakfast that can be rented out for girlfriend getaways and wedding stays. Here’s a glimpse of some of beautiful touches they have been hard at work on.

Speaking of wedding, with picturesque scenery in Decatur, there are many weddings that happen in this town, especially at highly rated and awarded, The Big White Barn, where they also host contra dances. As featured in Gone with the Wind, contra dances is a big family dance for all ages, you can participate in them monthly if you happen to be in town.

So what’s the lesson you can learn from this little trip to Decatur, Texas?

If you don’t spend the whole day just seeing where your imagination can take you (or what they have that you would like to take home), then make sure to some good road tripping and roll right to the Petrified Wood Gas Station. You never know what you can find when you take a road trip to find a place that becomes trip worthy.

Like Lionel says, these Apple Cinnamon Biscuits are “easy like Sunday morning” (and so good to eat, too.)

Thanks to Envy Apples for reminding us that “apple a day…” especially when it’s as good as this one and this sponsored post.

Apples-Cinnamon-Biscuits (2 of 16)

While this year I decided not to concentrate on resolutions, I did make a set of goals of things I wanted to spend time working towards mastering in the kitchen. None of them were exotic, but what I felt any good southernern should know… Having a few recipes that you are known for that make people smile even before they open their eyes because the aroma has drifted them out of their slumber.

You know – things with carbs. And sugar. Ahhh.

The Golden Trifecta: Biscuits, Hot Rolls and ultimately, the omnipotent Cinnamon Rolls.

Apples-Cinnamon-Biscuits (2 of 16)

Likewise when Envy Apples invited me to enjoy a Central Market Cooking class featuring Envy Apples, this was the time to begin my challenge. But of course, not without enjoying a few new unique dishes made with the most envious of the apples, the Envy Apple.

Don't miss

So what makes an Envy apple so “envious?” It’s not just the aroma and taste (which is just the right amount of sweetness from the Braeburn and the Royal Gala), but the fact that it doesn’t turn brown as soon as you cut it! So it makes for the perfect ingredient from everything from a sangria to salad to soup (the butternut squash and apple soup below was bowlickin’ good although I was able to restrain myself.)

Apples-Cinnamon-Biscuits (2 of 16)

After my inspiring evening with all things apples, I was ready to put mine to work.  Apparently, I wasn’t the only one that wanted to get their hands on them apples:)

Apples-Cinnamon-Biscuits (2 of 16)

This is the best $10 ever spent for this baby. It’s a no brainer if your eyes water when you cut onions.      This is your answer to dicing!

Apples-Cinnamon-Biscuits (2 of 16)

Because I hadn’t even started my quest, I felt like I really needed to master the first, before moving on to the next baked good. That meant biscuits. And the cold air outside said biscuits, too. So that Sunday, biscuits were on the brain — but to sweeten the deal, I was adding a little sweetness with apples and cinnamon.

So off to races we went, mixing, kneading and making sure were to be quick, yet deliberate (so the bits of butter wouldn’t melt as we folded and rolled our dough.) Honestly, if you read through any good baked recipe, you’ll realize it’s not just the final result you’re after, it’s the lessons on life you learn when you finally master it that make it the perfect biscuit.)

Yep, there’s some deep stuff there.

But as soon as it’s done and you smell the combination of apples and cinnamon greet the air, you have found the promised land. Slather on some honey butter and it’s over (you’ll start eating these are breakfast but find a way to add them to your next meal (did someone say apple-cinnamon chicken biscuit?)

While I’ll admit, I still need to roll out some biscuits in my sleep and without referring to my recipe before I can call it mastery, these were a good milestone moment. Now off to make my Sangria with my Envy Apples.

Best Galentine’s Day: Spinach Gnocchi Balls

January 22, 2019 By Autumn Rose Reo 2 Comments

Craving something garlicky and buttery without the carbs? Spinach Gnocchi Balls will leave your breath strong, your teeth dirty, and your stomach happy.

I remember many moons ago when I was a teenager I hosted a girls-only Valentine’s Day Dinner for all my gal pals that didn’t have a Valentine’s Day date. This was well before it was called Galentine’s Day  or before we all had cell phones to take cute photos of our evening to show social media (thank god for that!) But what I do remember was the rule for the meal; everything we had must be full of garlic or something you’d never eat in front of your date.

Spinach Gnocchi (2 of 13)

So I made heart-shaped crescent rolls, creamy chicken alfredo, and these Spinach Gnocchi balls. The recipe is actually one my mom had been making for me for years and was so. freaking. good. Unlike most gnocchi, these don’t have any flour, so it’s not a traditional dumpling. These are full of spinach and uses cheese as a binder. (So if you’re either on a veggie kick or are riding high on the Keto train, these will rock your world.

Spinach Gnocchi

Now 15+ later, some of my favorite gals met for a little pre-Galentine’s Day soiree. Each of us brought something to share for Galentine’s Day – so good and so delicious.

Holiday Magic Year Round with Enchanted Fairies and Kidd’s Kidds

December 13, 2018 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

At Enchanted Fairies sharing holiday magic isn’t just at Christmas time, but all year round for non-profit Kidd’s Kidds and when your family shares in the fun.

Thanks to Enchanted Fairies and Kidd’s Kidds for sharing this special experience with mamachallenge.com with this sponsored post.

I love the holidays for many reasons, but seeing the good in people like the Angel Tree, hearing stories of paying off layaways or giving anonymously to organizations in need, always warms my heart and brings tears to my eyes. So when Kidd’s Kidds invited to me to go behind-the-scenes to see how one of their biggest donors, Enchanted Fairies, goes beyond Christmas time to give and create once-in-a-lifetime experiences for kids with life-altering/life-threatening conditions, I was there with bells on (and so were the kids!)

Enchanted-Fairies

I actually had been to Enchanted Fairies when my daughter was younger to have her own Enchanted Fairies portraits done for grandma. So I *thought* I knew what to expect when I was invited to share in a special experience at Enchanted Fairies with two special children from Kidd’s Kidds – Avery (age 9) and Mason (age 7).

Enchanted-Fairies

Enchanted-Fairies

Enchanted-Fairies

Both of these beautiful children (and Mason’s sister) had just a few months ago, had traveled with Kidd’s Kidds trip to Walt Disney World (also funded through donations from Enchanted Fairies) and on this special day would be transported – to a beautiful storybook experience captured forever with a picture!

Enchanted-Fairies

Enchanted-Fairies

Enchanted-Fairies

Watching them be kids and in the middle of the moment – with all the efforts focused on them – was truly magical for me. Especially at the holidays, when often the real purpose of the season…giving and living life the most and the best that you can, isn’t always what is celebrated. But today it was — and at Enchanted Fairies, whether you have are a 9-year old, a little girl with a Brain Tumor and Posterior Fosse Syndrome or a 7-year old with Nephrotic Syndrome, you can feel like you are the center of the universe.

Enchanted-Fairies

Enchanted-Fairies

As of today through their tireless efforts, Enchanted Fairies has:

  • Raised $ 600, 319.14
  • Photographed 19, 562 families
  • Fed 403 ,137 people

The photo session in itself is much more than getting the perfect shot. Daniel, the owner, really knows how to allow kids to be themselves and capturing the heart and minds of children. The “oh my” opportunities with special props and little “tricks” allows children to relax and let go, so every picture taken comes out as your favorite. Trying to narrow down your favorites is nearly impossible as each look, expression, and interaction really makes the experience as memorable for you as it is for them.

Enchanted-Fairies

My daughter is definitely going to love her holiday treat when I bring her back for her grand treatment fulfilling her dream as a mermaid! And if you act fast, there are a few appointments left for the Christmas session.

With just a $25 donation to Kidd’s Kidds, every session at Enchanted Fairies includes access:

  • Enchanted Wardrobe and accessories
  • Signature handcrafted props and wings
  • Storybook set including fairies, mermaids, and right now Christmas!
  • 20 minute photo session
  • One limited edition 10″ Signature Fairies Portrait

Keep the strength of these children moving as well as the amazing work of Kidd’s Kidds but enjoying your own Enchanted Experience!

🚨 ACT NOW: Keep Public $$$ in Public Schools! 🚨

Click Here (takes less than one minute):
https://www.txpta.org/take-action

Tomorrow, March 11, the Texas House Committee on Public Education will hear HB 3. Let’s make it clear: Public money demands public accountability!

Texans have rejected vouchers since 1957—yet lawmakers are once again pushing them through with SB 2 and HB 3.

💰 Vouchers drain public school resources.
📉 They don’t improve student achievement.
❌ They aren’t about "parent choice"—private schools choose their students.
🏫 Texas parents already have school choice.

Governor Abbott is making vouchers a priority, but Texans are pushing back. Lawmakers are feeling the heat from voters who refuse to let public schools be undermined.

📲 Take 1 minute to make your voice heard NOW!

📷Jackson and Taylor are 2 of the 5.5 million reasons why Texas must keep public dollars in public schools. I was a product of public schools and had an amazing experience in a rural community with some of the best teachers. Change needs to happen, but taking away resources like these from schools is not especially when they ste already underfunded and our teachers’ morale is at an all time low. Communities work better together not when you separate them further apart.

Named after Bangkok’s legendary road of entertainment of all kinds (Sukhumvit Soi 11), it seems fitting this newly imagined destination would find its home in Arlington’s Entertainment District. Anchoring the NEW @loewsarlington, @soycowboytx (also from @bbbutchers / @berghospitality) recently swung open the curtain this summer with an opening that made heads turn at every corner of this 12,000 sq. ft. of sexy space - with 3 unique bars, patio, viewable kitchen and dining room.

To call it a “Pan Asian restaurant” doesn’t do it justice with its rich menu of fresh sushi, dim sum, caviar, truffle, lobster, waygu (all things you don’t find in the home of the margarita machine and ballpark nachos.) And if you’re looking for entertainment, just take a peek into the expansive kitchen and watch your rolls or omakase be made. The cocktail menu is just as extravagant with everything from mezcal to Japanese whisky, you’re eyes will be just as happy as your lips upon your first sip.

While we experienced live music, fashion show and more as part of the opening, the cool smoke installation and the people-watching is definitely just part of the menu at Soy Cowboy you’ll have to explore.
