There’s nothing worse as a mom to see your child sick and you can’t do anything to help…
Except when you either have to wait until daylight hours to try to beg for an appointment with the pediatrician OR to roll into an urgent care facility or emergency room in the middle of the night with tons of other sick folks waiting to be seen while your kid tries to keep from throwing up all over the waiting room?
Don’t you just wish you could call your doctor and have them come to the house? Or better yet, to hit a button and in minutes the doc be at your bedside?
Thankfully, Dallas’ own Dr. Jonathan Clarke, a physician-certified in emergency medicine and military physician, not only heard your plea, he made the process even easier with an app. Mend, like Uber for medicine, delivers convenient, affordable, on-demand healthcare in your home, office or hotel, for patients age 2-64.
Launching just this last month in limited areas of Dallas including Uptown and Frisco, Mend services patients Monday – Friday 8 am – 8 pm and weekends 11 am – 6:30 pm. However, those without an Apple device or would prefer to speak to an individual to make an appointment at 469.458.6363 (MEND), Monday – Friday 8 am – 4 pm.
THE MEND PROCESS IS EASY
1. Download the Mend App on Apple iTunes to sign up for the service.
2. Request a visit using the app in just a few easy steps.
3. Now wait until the doctor comes to you.
While at this time Mend does not accept any insurance, sometimes comfort, convenience, and customer service are completely worth the very reasonable costs (that are also consistent with what I’ve paid for urgent care out of pocket costs.) Ranging from $199 for the visit to $175 for a complex service, no services are rendered without your consent and are payable with your credit card, Health Savings Account, or Flexible Spending Account. And what about if you need a prescription? Not only will Mend write out the prescription, but
And what about if you need a prescription? Not only will Mend write out the prescription, but Doughtery’s Pharmacy will provide same-day (or next day) delivery to your doorstep as well. I remember one time I was able to get into my doctor for a 20-minute visit then to have to spend six hours waiting for my prescription at the pharmacy. I would have paid big bucks to have been able to sleep at home and then wake up to have my pills handed to me at the door.
While Mend may be convenient for those specials times, they are a compliment to the services your primary care doctor and not a replacement. So make room on your iPhone and view the website to see if your area is served right now. If it’s anything like Uber, this concept is only going to grow exponentially as people see the value in this service.
Now let the mend begin!
This is all kinds of awesome. Sometimes when the kids are super sick, I hate to drag them out of the house.
That’s really cool! I’ve heard about apps like Dr. On Demand a lot lately, but I’ve never heard of a house call service like this. I really love it!
Wow, this is pretty fascinating. I have used apps for video conference calls with physicians but never knew there was a house cal service like this out there. I know several people who really could use this. It would be great to take care of a relative or elderly family member who may not live so near, in a pinch.
I’ve never heard of a service like Mend and how needed it is. When my girls were little I would of loved this service. Now that I have an aging father I may end up needing them and am very thankful I learned of this service now 🙂 I appreciate your sharing and keeping us informed and healthy 🙂
I love this idea! The remote doctor services I’ve seen are really cool, but house calls take the cake. Awesome!
This is such a great idea. I love that they came out with an app like this. This can really come in handy. My kids have gotten sick a lot this year already. I could have really used this.
There are so many thing that are just awful when you are sick, and to add to the list of going to see the doctor, you have to leave your house, and sit with a bunch of OTHER sick people! This is a really awesome idea! I hope to see this in my area!
I am stunned at this service! I am so excited that this is available and I can not WAIT to use it!!! This is such a great idea… I do NOT feel like going out to a doctors office when I am sick.
This is all kinds of awesome! Last week I dragged 3 kids to the doctor, and it wasn’t fun. They were restless, bored and not feeling well. Needless to say, I’m all over this – for my own sanity too!
This sounds like a great service and very convenient. However, I do think the cost is a bit steep for most families, or at least for mine.
This is pretty great! I long to be able to have a doctor who can come to the house. This is totally the next best thing!
This is perfect for all those times when the kids have a little bug. I would love to to try this service!
Wow, so they come to you? What a fabulous app to have. I am making note to add it. Thanks for sharing.
This is an awesome service. I am the first to say that I hate going to the ER or urgent care, or even the doctor where there are other REALLY sick people there.
I didn’t know about this service. It sounds incredibly convenient. I should look into this.
This sounds very convenient! I know for a busy mom like me, it would helpful and very appreciated when it comes to sick kiddos!
This looks like a great app. I hate going out to the doctor when I am sick.
I had not heard of this before!! What an amazing service and would be convenient not to have to take the kid to a doctors office.
What an interesting idea! We do not have options like this where I live, It would be so convenient to have a doctor that makes house calls. Something it is tough to get to the doctor’s office when one is sick.
Oh man, this is genius! How many times do I wish I didn’t have to take my kids into a germy drs office!
I think that is a really great idea. It will be super awesome if they start accepting insurance.
I so wish my doctor would come to me. it would makes things so much easier for sure.
What a brilliant and useful idea! I love the idea of having doctor house calls.
What a great concept. I like this because it is so hard to get to the doctors when you have 5 kids home with you!
