Indoor Things to Do in DFW with the Kids

July 10, 2018 By Autumn Rose Reo 2 Comments

We all love summer, but when the sun’s beating down on your back, sometimes you need to head for the A/C. Here’s our guide to Indoor Things To Do in DFW with the Kids. (And we’ve got the secret to get you into many of them!)

I love Texas but there are days when you just can’t do one more day outside. That’s when you head back into the precious sanctuary of air-conditioning, however, you still have to keep the words “I’m Bored” from being uttered. So here are some of our favorite ways to escape the heat (and some giveaways to boot!) Plus see our secret how you can get into many of them with one pass and save money all at one time!

Hands-On Learning

1. Texas Discovery Garden & Butterfly Garden – Dallas

Kids love the 2-story Butterfly House where tropical butterflies dance around.

2. Crayola Experience – Plano

They have a playground, puzzles, and coloring galore! Plus, some fun shows and activities that will keep the kids busy all day. (Use the code AUTUMN and get a discount!)

3. SeaLIFE Aquarium – Grapevine

This aquarium is so good, you won’t believe you’re in a mall. I’m talking sharks, rays, seahorses, and more!

Sealife-Aquarium

4. Lego Discovery Center – Grapevine

Kids can race LEGO vehicles, watch 4D movies, and build tall towers on their Earthquake Tables! Talk about an indoor adventure.

Museums and Art

Math-ALIVE-Perot

5. Amon Carter Museum – Fort Worth

Head to the museum on Thursdays from 10:30-12 for artmaking, art discovery, and story time!

6. Fort Worth Museum of Science & History – Fort Worth

This museum has stuff for both you and the kids! Check out their 9-11 Tribute while the kids head over to the Children’s Museum where they can play all day.

7. Perot Museum – Dallas

If you haven’t been to Perot, you need to go! There’s so much to do you can’t cover it in one day and with changing exhibits there’s something to do for the kids (and the adults!)

Perot

8. Gold Exhibit at Dallas Museum of Art – Dallas

Let’s be honest, we like shiny things just as much as our kids do. Go check out all of the fabulous things made from gold at the DMA’s newest exhibit.

9. Painting with a Twist – DFW

Painting with a Twist is totally kid-friendly now! Check out the nearest classes to your neighborhood.

10. Board & Brush – DFW

Canvas isn’t all you’ll paint on at Board & Brush. In fact, they prefer, you guessed it – BOARDS!

11. Front Porch Pottery – Fort Worth

Let the kids get messy and create a masterpiece. Surely you need a new whatchamacallit for your bathroom counter, right?

12. Sunshine Glaze – Southlake

Paint a plate (or any of the other fun ceramics) for memories and fun at this beloved venue! Don’t miss the theme days too for indoor painting fun!)

Sports

Galleria Dallas Ice Skating

13. Top Golf – DFW

Because sometimes you just want your kids to get really tired so you can sleep through the night.

14. iFLY – DFW

For the kids that love a thrill, and parents that like to give themselves a minor heart attack.

15. Ice Rink at Galleria Dallas

For those REALLY hot days that you need a serious cool down.

Trampoline Parks

16. Urban Air – DFW

This place has a Warrior Obstacle Course, TUBES Playground, and a Battle BEAM. But don’t worry, it’s safe…

17. Flight Deck Trampoline Park – DFW

There are literally trampolines everywhere at this place. No fluff but the kids love it.

Gaming Centers

Main-Event-Birthday

18. National Videogame Museum– Frisco

This little slice of nostalgia is just as much for you as it is the kids. Did someone say Burgertime?

19. Free Play – Arlington/Richardson

Just pay $10 to get in then let them play all day! They have over 95 games.

20. Alley Cats – Arlington

Bowling, games, rock climbing, and air conditioning – what more do you need?

21. Main Event – DFW

22. Dave and Busters – DFW

Fun for the whole family! Let them play their games while you grab a bite to eat and maybe a well-deserved glass of wine.

Water Parks

Great Wolf

24. EpicWaters – Grand Prairie

This place is massive and brand new! Come here once and your kids won’t want to leave!

25. Great Wolf Lodge – Grapevine

If you’re in need of a staycation, this is the place to go! Plus it’s a one-stop shop with activities, restaurants, and a place to lay your head while the kids are running around with their magic wand (plus parents love it, too.)

Escape Rooms

Grapevine-Mills

26. The Escape Room – Grapevine

This one’s for your older kids who love figuring out puzzles!

27. Escape This – Dallas

They’re rated #1 on Yelp for Escape rooms for kids for a reason – great customer service and challenging scenarios.

There are lots of fun things you can do to beat the heat this summer. If you want to try a few, I HIGHLY recommend you grab a POGO Pass so you can get 12 months of free access to participating venues around DFW. (Affiliate partner.)

You’re Invited: McDonald’s July Lunch Bunch

July 2, 2018 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

McDonald’s is changing the way they do burgers and we’re totally here for it. Oh, and don’t worry. They’re not switching out their buns for pancakes so you can take a deep breath.

Thanks to McDonald’s for this opportunity to share this fun event with everyone.

Grab the kids and bring them to McDonald’s Lunch Bunch events as they present their new Fresh Beef burgers. You’ll be able to try out their new high-tech self-ordering kiosks and take a behind-the-scenes kitchen tour for a closer look at the operations. For the kids, there will be local firefighters on site showing them around their fire trucks. Plus, kids will receive McDonald’s coloring books and balloons!

Lunch Bunch will take place at the following McDonald’s restaurants in the Dallas, Fort Worth and East Texas areas:

  • Fort Worth Area – Tuesday, July 10 from 11am to noon
    • 1298 W. Kennedale Pkwy Kennedale, TX 76140
  • East Texas – Wednesday, July 11 from 11am to noon
    • 2034 E. SE Loop 323 Tyler, TX 75701
  • Dallas Area – Thursday, July 12 from 11am to noon
    • 216 Coit Road Plano, TX 75075

Parents and attendees will receive a McDonald’s goodie bag and have the chance to enter giveaways for McDonald’s swag and gift cards. Plus, they’re giving away a free Happy Meal with the purchase of a Fresh Beef Burger.

McDonald’s is getting fancy with their new self-ordering kiosks. We love that we can still customize our meal to exactly how we like it. After ordering, they’ll bring your food right out to your table. No more looking for your ticket number on your receipt!

It’s no surprise that we’re most excited about the new, Mcdonald’s Fresh Beef burgers. Not only are they cooked to order, but they’re now made with 100% fresh beef! We’re all for the fresh ingredients that we don’t have to question – especially when it comes to feeding it to the kids.

Join us at your local to learn more about McDonald’s while meeting fellow moms and dads!

You can join the conversation on social media using #McDLunchBunch and #McDNorthTexas.

Score: First Timers Guide to a FC Dallas Game at Toyota Stadium

June 22, 2018 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

Dallas Fort Worth isn’t just home to the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers…there are several other national teams including FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium. If you’re headed to a game, then here’s our First Timers Guide to a FC Dallas Game.

Thanks to Toyota for an amazing afternoon kicking it with FC Dallas in my Toyota 2018 Camry and this sponsored post.

Being a Texas girl, I’ve done my time at the football game and many lazy afternoons at baseball fields. So I pretty much knew what to expect the first time I went to a Cowboys game at AT&T Stadium and headed to Globe Life Park (remember I used to be in walkable distance of there?) But my first professional REAL football (as called by the rest of the world AKA – soccer), I wasn’t quite ready at all.

FCDallas at Toyota Stadium

So my friends at Toyota decided it was time to school this Texas girl on all things “football” at Toyota Stadium – home to the FC Dallas for its opening day. If you may not have heard of it, Toyota Stadium and Toyota Soccer Center is a 145-acre multipurpose sports and entertainment facility in Frisco, Texas. Home stadium for FC Dallas and hosts the FCS Championship Game, the Frisco Bowl as well a variety of concerts, tournaments and other events, this venue will also soon be the home of the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

FC Dallas Toyota Stadium

The combination of a world-class stadium and a sports park make Toyota Stadium one of the best and most unique soccer facilities in the world. Included in the facility is the 20,500 state-of-the-art pro soccer stadium and 17 tournament-sized fields.

So we headed in a beautiful red 2018 Toyota Camry (talk about showing our spirit) to enjoy the fun…And man, the fun we did have as well as learn a lot about FC Dallas games.

Here’s our First Timer’s Guide to a FC Dallas Game at Toyota Stadium

Get Your Tickets

This might seem to be obvious but you actually can order tickets for the whole season as well as single games. There are several areas to also consider when purchasing your tickets including the East Field Box, Beer Garden and of course, suites as well as general seating. If it was up to me, I think hanging with the “real fans” on the field as part of the drum squad – they knew what was up. And our seats under the suites, but still in a covered shaded area were pretty sweet (because it’s HOT!)

AND remember: Children three (3) feet and under are not required to have a ticket for admission but must sit on the lap of a ticketed guardian.

FC Dallas Tickets

Did you know you can also host birthday parties at Toyota Stadium or bring your work team for the game? FC Dallas can show ’em how team works happens – plus it’s a whole new way to kick it!

Drum Team

What to Wear

Like any sporting event, you want to show your spirit for the team with jerseys, shirts, hats, etc. Thankfully, many of us already have a red, white or blue clothing to donn for the day. You can always head to the Team Shop or FCDallasGear.com in advance as well, but whatever you do, just make sure it’s tasteful (ok to be around all ages that is!) Comfortable shoes and hat (to shield the sun) will be great. Also, make sure to throw on that first layer of sunscreen!

FC Dallas Toyota Stadium

What to Bring

In effect this year the stadium has gone to a no purse/handbag rule except bags that are clear plastic and do not exceed 14” x 6” x 14”. Of course there are exceptions which you can check online, but make it easy on yourself and just don’t bring it – unless it’s a flag – because those are ok (just check the policy first.)

FC Dallas Toyota Stadium

If you plan to tailgate, then you’ll need to load up the car with what you need for proper tailgating, but leave your open air grill at home because they’re not allowed. Stake your space early as well – parking here like any game can get complicated!

Most of all, make sure not to bring any of the following because you can’t bring it in with you to the facility:

Items NOT permitted:

  • Weapons of any kind (i.e. knives (including pocket knives), pepper spray, stun-guns, slingshots, concealed weapons, firearms etc.)
  • Fireworks of any kind (including smoke bombs and flares)
  • No glass and plastic bottles, cans, cups, coolers, containers, food or beverages of any kind
  • Air horns, whistles, seat cushions
  • Illegal drugs or chemicals
  • Laser pointers
  • Cups
  • Bags larger than 14x14x6
  • Inflated Soccer Balls
  • Umbrellas
  • Animals (except service animals)
  • Un-approved pamphlets, handouts, advertisements, etc.
  • Skateboards, roller blades, roller skates, etc.

Thankfully, the booths mostly take credit cards, but cash sometimes makes things easier too when it comes to make things go faster!

Where to Park

It pays to drive a Toyota — especially to Toyota Stadium. If driving around a NEW Toyota Camry to the game wasn’t enough –  if you have a Toyota you get the UPGRADE!

  • FC Dallas fans driving their Toyota vehicles to FC Dallas home matches will receive complimentary Toyota Preferred Parking located in the South Sienna Blue Stadium East Lot.
    • The reserved Toyota Preferred Parking spaces reach capacity quickly and are available on a first-come, first serve basis.
    • Fans are encouraged to arrive 60-minutes prior to kick.
  • Free parking remains available for all guests to FC Dallas home matches in all the Corolla Red Stadium West Lots, the Highlander Green Lots and the RAV4 White Lot.
  • Preferred public parking is located in the Camry Gold Lot. The Cost to park in the Camry Gold Lot is $20.

If you don’t come early to enjoy the festivities, then just know you’ll be walking a little bit to the other outlying parking. And it’s a bit of a trek with littles, so plan accordingly. (And remember, no bags and no rentry, so only take what you need!)

FC Dallas Toyota Stadium

What to Expect

Everyone goes through security – no matter the age and has their items checked. The process is easy and once you’re in – the fun begins!

FC Dallas

If you’re like me, you like to have a lay of the land – where the food is, where the exits are, and most importantly, where the bathrooms are. So take a look here to acclimated before you go. It’s easy to navigate once you get there as it’s an open space in a big circle.

Now what? Then let’s have some fun! Lots of red, white and blue (the colors of FC Dallas), lots of spirit, and a lot of Toyota love (of course!) This one is rather perfect, don’t you think?

FC Dallas Toyota Stadium

As for the festivities – get ready and come for the full game so you don’t miss them! There’s fireworks, chants, and much more that aren’t always at other games! Make sure to take in the whole experience.

What to Eat

This might have been one of my favorite things I discovered about Toyota Stadium. Most stadiums may have a beer sponsor, but at Toyota, we have a tequila sponsor – Lunazul! So the margaritas here are really good – especially when you’re sitting in the heat! But that’s not all my friends… There was other great cocktails to enjoy too all around the stadium including an Old Fashioned and of course, several beer selections!

FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium

We may have covered the drinks, but what about the eats? There are 10 booths serving food at Toyota Stadium. You’ll find your usual suspects like fries, nachos, and burgers. But keep looking – you’ll also find some killer street tacos, elotes and even smothered tater tots! The food was legit and also reasonable, so this stadium gets a two thumbs up!

I hope this guide to a FC Dallas Game at Toyota Stadium helps you take on the day like a pro! You’ll have a great time and get ready for a lot of fun!

Cirque Italia – Ain’t Your Mama’s Circus

March 14, 2018 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

Staying close to home this spring break? Cirque Italia has rolled into DFW and is ready to take your idea of circus to a new level.

Thanks to Cirque Italia for this opportunity to attend opening night and this sponsored post.

The days of the traveling circus with elephants and tigers is now one for the history books.

Cirque Italia

I remember when I was a kid, you’d spot the colored fliers around town and soon see all the trucks come to town. Then only a few days later you’d spot the red and white tent and know the circus was here! On your special night, you could smell the the aroma of buttery popcorn while crunching on peanut shells as you walked through the vinyl tent. Once you were under the big top you’d have you might see elephants, tigers and acts that you’d never seen – and then share the evening the next day with all your friends about what you’d seen.

Cirque Italia

Fast-forward to my children’s experience to the circus. While it doesn’t look much look like mine, after our experience, I can share that the circus is definitely alive and well.

However, it now includes laser lights, robots, and much more! Just in time for spring break Cirque Italia made it to the Midcities in Hurst at Northeast Mall.

Cirque Italia

Not knowing exactly what to expect, I was thrilled there was still a big cobalt blue and white striped tent to let us know we has arrived at Cirque Italia. There’s something about a “big top” that does take a normal parking lot to a whole new experience – well that and the buttery popcorn that met us as we entered the tent. We quickly took our spots as the lights went down and the show began.

Cirque Italia

From a vignette of Steam Punk tricks to a laser robot show, there was something to keep your eye moving throughout the event. However, it was the acrobatic shows incorporating water fountains and tricks high in the air that are the scene stealers.

Cirque Italia

If you’re looking for something different to do this spring break, this is definitely an option, but it’s only here for a little while before it moves on.

Things are definitely different with Cirque Italia – coming to North East Mall (go Midcities.) With its state-of-the-art technology and cool use of water, it should keep us all on the edge of our seat.

About the Show

What comes to mind when you hear the phrase “Aquatic Spectacular?” You can expect all these things and so much more from the brand new themed Cirque Italia production with its perfectly fitting new title. After six years of enhancements, a rigorous casting selection, and countless performances nationwide, this newest form of Cirque Italia’s innovative and unique “traveling circus” spectacular production is set to be its finest to date.

Aquatic Spectacular came to life all thanks to its imaginative creator Manuel Rebecchi, along with invaluable direction and production management by Chanté DeMoustes. Cirque Italia’s brand-new theme show is an artistic blend of human abilities, technology and the element of water. This one-of-a-kind production combines water fountains, jet-skis, pirates, and more in a fun filled atmosphere all ages are sure to enjoy.

Performers from all over the world have been brought together under the enchanted spiral of the white and blue big top. The merging of their astonishing skills with the poetic element of water has led to the creation of a truly unforgettable experience. Cirque Italia has managed to create a beautifully unique theatrical production by combining the gracefulness of the human body with the calming fluidity of water, along with bursts of power and excitement as well.

Aquatic Spectacular offers two hours of high-end entertainment. Beautiful aerialists dazzle and shimmer on a chandelier high above the ground, but they aren’t the only ones that will draw your eyes toward the sky. You can expect to see contortion in a bubble, a Venetian aerial duo, and even someone hula hooping while in the air. Don’t worry about getting your eyes checked, you aren’t seeing double; there are TWO lasermen. Duo jugglers, duo roller-skaters, the always breathtaking wheel of death…the list goes on and on. Let your imagination wander, because anything is possible in this new whimsical production.

Wined and Dined: 5 Best Dallas Steakhouses

December 9, 2017 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

Celebrating a raise, an anniversary, or making a big impression, the way to get wined and dined in Dallas always leads to steak. There’s a lot of ’em, here are 5 not to miss!

When people come to Dallas one of the first questions they always ask is “where do I get a good steak?”

Followed by “where do I get a good margarita?” and “Where do I get good Mexican food (which of course leads to a big discussion on the difference between Mexican food and Tex-Mex.)

But a good steakhouse? We have tons of them to choose from.

And while many of them will get you a good steak, potato and salad, the distinction of a good steakhouse has a lot more to do with how good is the steak and even more so, how good is the service.

Funny enough, no matter when the economy is up or down, studies show, we still eat steak here in Dallas no matter what.

(Remember, “beef, it’s what’s for dinner.)

5 Best Steakhouses in Dallas

One other factor is how dressed you wanna get. Some of these you can get away in with a nice pair of jeans and collared shirt. However, a few of these you’ll need to throw out a little extra effort. And while you’re getting things out, make sure to make allocations for your budget because you’ll be paying some moolah to eat that steak. Thankfully, you can’t miss which ever one you choose. They’re all that good.

Besides, isn’t that part of the fun?

5 Best Dallas Steakhouses

Al Biernat’s

4217 Oak Lawn Ave, Dallas, TX 75219

You know that moment in the movies where the rich guy is called by name immediately when he walks into a restaurant and they place them in his “table?” That’s how everyone feels at Al Biernat’s. Anyone and everyone has been here and not necessarily for the steak, either. But the service is impeccable in a sophisticated, laid-back way that doesn’t seemed pushed and just at the right time. They have a way to make you feel like a celebrity (that’s because a lot of them also frequent the spot), but more so because you always feel special even on the busiest of Friday nights. A local legend within itself, don’t miss a chance to eat at (and possibly meet) Al Biernat.

Don’t worry, you’ll know him when you see him as he walks around to say hello and remember that your anniversary is coming up (even when you forgot.)

Pappas Bros. Steakhouse

10477 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220

When people talk about having “that’ experience of having a staff watch your every move and anticipate your every need (even if you didn’t know you needed it), that’s Pappas Bros. Looking to make that big impression that you’ve hit the big time and can spring for the $200+ bottles of vino? That’s Pappas Bros. This menu is everything you expect it to be with shrimp cocktail, filet mignons and one of Dallas’ few food finds for foie gras. But don’t fill up on the first, second or even fourth course. With a beyond dessert menu, you at least need to make room for a bite (or four.)

III Forks

17776 Dallas Parkway Dallas, Texas 75287

When you see that moment a guy gets on his knee to ask a gal to marry him in an uber romantic eatery that’s exactly what it looks like when walk into III Forks. Except that small, exclusive restaurant is actually 14 different beautiful dining rooms within the 25,000 sq. ft. building. More than 900 people can be in dining at one time, but you’ll never feel like there’s more than you and your dining partner. Recipient of several Wine Spectator awards and any more, you can enjoy that Texas steak with a twist of French cuisine that makes it an unforgettable dinner experience.

Chamberlain’s Steak & Chop House

5330 Belt Line Rd, Dallas, TX 75254

It’s hard not to be bias about Chamberlain’s Steak and Chop House. When Chef Proprietor Richard Chamberlain isn’t saying hello to the everyone in the room at the steak house or grill (his other eatery in Addison), he’s on TV and in the community doing things. He has all the respect of the local chefs (I’ve seen many of them eating here on their day off), sports stars (they love it here) and certainly of the national ones too, appearing several times on Good Morning America and being named One of the Best Steakhouses in the Country by a little publication called Bon Appetit.  And the man you see on camera, is the same one that you meet, but if possible, even nicer. He food is impeccable and all of his other chefs are too. Prime Rib is ridiculously good. The bisque is ridiculously good. You can’t go wrong unless you just don’t go. And go to Richard hi when you’re there.

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar

N. The Legacy Tower, 7250 Dallas Pkwy, Plano, TX 75024

The youngest of the steakhouses on the list to join Dallas’ elite list, Fleming’s gives North Dallas another reason to stay close to home and everyone else to head northbound on Dallas Parkway. When the restaurant opened, everyone in town made the trek and it was well worth the traffic. With a bar scene that’s great for a Tuesday night in your flats or walk in with your fur and pearls and no one will flinch except to gesture hello and make you feel at home. A huge favorite of many guests are the small plates that are just the right portion size and just the right taste with a little bit of steak, seafood and a little bit of Asian flavor to boot.  Being the new guy, the interiors are new and upscale and so is the technology with the iPad wine list and a smartphone valet claim.

Bob’s Steak & Chop House

Various locations in Dallas, Fort Worth & Grapevine

If you’re looking for going BIG, then Bob’s Steak & Chop House is where you’ll find it. Not only will you get that big piece of meat you’ve always wanted and dreamed of, but the trademark carrot (yes, just one) will get your table talking for hours. Really. But whatever you do, don’t forget to order the mushrooms! If you’re a fun guy (appreciate that little pun), then you’ll love the sides of mushrooms that I’ve made a stop to pick up a few times to just eat as a meal. Mind blowing. The menu is straight-forward, but it’s because why would you have a large menu if you know that things you make are so good that no one is going to order them anyway. Your expected dark room, white tablecloth, big red wine experience, you’ll be surprised when you walk out finally and see that you’ve spent three hours eating…and you’re still talking about how big that carrot was.

So where are you going for dinner?

Santa’s getting really generous by letting kids get hands-on at Santa’s Toy Factory at the Parks at Arlington beginning Nov. 11.

The Parks at Arlington Mall has partnered with Mattel to introduce a new holiday adventure that will be memorable for the entire family. Santa’s Toy Factory will open on Nov. 11 in the center court area of the shopping center.

To be honest every year I telling Santa (or grandma and grandpa) what to get the kids for Christmas and I don’t even know what they are! Not that Barbie®, Hot Wheels®, and Thomas & Friends™ or  Santa ever disappoint (as all of them are always on the top of my kids’ Christmas list), but wouldn’t it be great to find out how a toy works or see if your kids really like it before it makes the FINAL CHRISTMAS LIST?

More about Santa’s Toy Factory:

Santa’s Toy Factory is designed to empower creativity through an interactive, immersive experience to meet Santa. Within the 1,600 square-foot space, young guests will have the opportunity to “test” new toys in Santa’s Factory before they get delivered to all the boys and girls on Christmas morning. After they “test” the toys, they visit different stations to digitally design, build and paint toys from Mattel’s iconic brands including Barbie®, Hot Wheels®, and Thomas & Friends™. The grand finale, of course, will be meeting Santa himself for photos and to share their holiday wish list.

“We are proud to be partnering with Mattel to bring this new, one-of-a-kind holiday concept to life,” said Lorie Lisius, general manager of Parks at Arlington. “We are always looking for ways to introduce new brands and experiences to our community and can’t wait to showcase Santa’s Toy Factory this holiday season. We know our guests will embrace it.”

The experience with Santa’s Toy Factory is free-of-charge and photo packages begin at $39.99. To make reservations to ensure quicker access, please click HERE. If you’d like more information, please visit www.VisitSantasToyFactory.com. Parks at Arlington is located at 3811 South Cooper and is home to a plethora of high-quality tenants including H&M, Aveda and Dickey’s BBQ.

🚨 ACT NOW: Keep Public $$$ in Public Schools! 🚨

Click Here (takes less than one minute):
https://www.txpta.org/take-action

Tomorrow, March 11, the Texas House Committee on Public Education will hear HB 3. Let’s make it clear: Public money demands public accountability!

Texans have rejected vouchers since 1957—yet lawmakers are once again pushing them through with SB 2 and HB 3.

💰 Vouchers drain public school resources.
📉 They don’t improve student achievement.
❌ They aren’t about "parent choice"—private schools choose their students.
🏫 Texas parents already have school choice.

Governor Abbott is making vouchers a priority, but Texans are pushing back. Lawmakers are feeling the heat from voters who refuse to let public schools be undermined.

📲 Take 1 minute to make your voice heard NOW!

📷Jackson and Taylor are 2 of the 5.5 million reasons why Texas must keep public dollars in public schools. I was a product of public schools and had an amazing experience in a rural community with some of the best teachers. Change needs to happen, but taking away resources like these from schools is not especially when they ste already underfunded and our teachers’ morale is at an all time low. Communities work better together not when you separate them further apart.

🌲 Coca Cola Classic Christmas - Choctaw Stadium in Arlington
🗓️ Now through Dec. 29

Growing up @cocacola made the holidays magic, so when Coca Cola Classic rolled down the road, we had to go peek! Partnering with @enchantchristmas, the experience is part lights, part photo opps and for my kids mostly FOOD and overall a lot of fun - all washed down with (of course, a Coca Cola!)

What was also great was a little walk through memory lane with Coke Christmas moments throughout the years - cue the polar bears and 18 wheeler!

Experience:
🎅Market Square (definitely hit up the t-shirts - reading each one is half the fun)
🎅 Snow Tubing (always our favorite)Ice Skating (truth: we don’t skate, but it’s perfect people watching)
🎅 Interactive Light up Dance Floor
🎅 @cinemark Theatre with holiday movies
🎅 Coca-Cola Lounge - 21+ Cocktail experience (looked great to go with the girls)
🎅 Santa Landing

And of course, the Eatery! Eyes (and mouths) got big here with featured food from State Fair of Tex winners like The Drowning Tacos (SO GOOD we then ordered the Birria Tacos, too all cooked onsite and with all the sauce!)

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without @prairielights- with a packed car with blankets, Santa hats, hot cocoa and coffee, and blasting holiday music while we sing them even louder.

A stunning two-mile drive through light park complete with a midway stop - The Holiday Village with carnival rides, amazing bites (corndogs, funnel cakes and more, oh my!) And this year we were surprised with a new light tunnel, reimagined walk-through forest and new displays, great photo opps, gifts, visit with Santa, a lighted strollable forest.  It’s perfectly timed for food, fun and a little time on foot!

PRO TIP: Go early, get tickets in advance and spring for the fast pass on the weekends and prime holiday times. And enjoy it and don’t try to rush it - enjoy it! That includes entry and the experience (so bathroom before you go, but thankfully there’s one at The Holiday Village and you get the corn dog.)

Named after Bangkok’s legendary road of entertainment of all kinds (Sukhumvit Soi 11), it seems fitting this newly imagined destination would find its home in Arlington’s Entertainment District. Anchoring the NEW @loewsarlington, @soycowboytx (also from @bbbutchers / @berghospitality) recently swung open the curtain this summer with an opening that made heads turn at every corner of this 12,000 sq. ft. of sexy space - with 3 unique bars, patio, viewable kitchen and dining room.

To call it a “Pan Asian restaurant” doesn’t do it justice with its rich menu of fresh sushi, dim sum, caviar, truffle, lobster, waygu (all things you don’t find in the home of the margarita machine and ballpark nachos.) And if you’re looking for entertainment, just take a peek into the expansive kitchen and watch your rolls or omakase be made. The cocktail menu is just as extravagant with everything from mezcal to Japanese whisky, you’re eyes will be just as happy as your lips upon your first sip.

While we experienced live music, fashion show and more as part of the opening, the cool smoke installation and the people-watching is definitely just part of the menu at Soy Cowboy you’ll have to explore.

Food Nerd Note: SoyCowboy is on the upcoming @dfwrestaurantweek menu for just $39, so it’s a steal to take your own trip on a budget. (Make your reservation.)
