For Texans, we don’t just wear flip flops, we live in them.
We have summer flip flops and winter flip flops.
We have the crappy flip flops and fancy flip flops.
For me, I’ve been all of the world in my flips flops and have memories attached to each pair including my wedding flip flops (no, there not white.)
So it’s fitting that that on National Flip Flop Day, June 19, we take a moment to celebrate the all powerful flip flop.
1. The first flip flops date back to 4,000 B.C. in Egypt.
2. There are more than 22 references to sandals in the Bible.
3. The name for flip flop actually started as Jandels, for the word “Japanese Sandal” for its origins. Now learn how to say flip flop in more than 20 languages.
4. The world’s most expensive pair of flip flops will set you back $18,000.
5. Wearing flip flops can be hazardous on the feet, ankles and legs as well as harmful for posture and back health, but podiatrist-designed flip flops like Vionic Tide Sandals can hug the arch of the foot to give you the support you need to help realign the leg and posture. So basically, just like any pair of shoes, you still have to be smart about your flip flops just as you do your heels.
But let’s be honest, before you put on any pair of flip flops on your feet, you gotta have a good pedicure. There’s nothing worse than wearing a pair of flippies and then look down to see the cuticles and heels look like the Sedona desert. So Etre Bell, Northpark’s newest med spa is giving one lucky reader a mani/pedi package to make sure your toes look terrific before slipping on another pair of flip flops.
My favorite flip flops have to be Reef!

I live in an area of the country where wearing flip flops nine months out of the year is common. I usually wear them even longer and get the occasional “you must be crazy” comments.
I have the same pair of flip flops I’ve had for 10 years… they are Reef. And I DO buy a new pair almost every year… they are always the same!
Ha, ha, ha… That is so true. Here in Texas, everyone wears flip flops year rounds. I mean, why wouldn’t we, it stays hot year round 🙂
It would definitely be better to have some flip flops that hug the arch. Cheapo ones seem like they destroy your arch.
I like how these are cute and comfy. A lot of cute flip flops are really uncomfortable.
I am a fan of flip flops. I like that you have “crappy and fancy” flip flops. That sure sounds like what I have!

I love me some flip flops. For most of the year, it is about the only thing that I wear.
I had no idea there was a national flip flop day! Learn something new every day!
As a fellow Texan I know exactly what you mean! We are serious about our flip flops…lol! Awesome giveaway!
