Ideas You Can Do for Grandparents Day in September

September 4, 2014 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

Disclaimer: I was provided complimentary product from Giftbaskets for purposes of a review, however, all comments are my own.

With less than 100 days until Christmas, 60 days until Halloween, I thought I’d add one more to the pile you think you’re already too late for –Grandparents Day..

Since 1978 the first Sunday after Labor Day has been officially designated as Grandparents Day.  More than a reason to sell greeting cards, this annual event recognizes the strength, love and guidance grandparents provide to families.  Although the recognized date is Sept. 7 this year, any day is a great opportunity to celebrate grandparents.

Family History ProjectChildren can learn so much simply by spending time talking with their grandparents and comparing their life stories.  To start the process, Kiddie Academy has developed a free downloadable Family History Project that includes both a family tree and a list of questions for children to ask grandparents.

Be sure to record the interview with your favorite audio or video application so your family can revisit that new bit of family history in the future.  Of course, you can also share bits via your favorite social media outlets now to friends and family, too.

Baked-Goods-Basket-Sampler_large

However, if you’re like me, you can’t begin to do a project, much less get something in the mail to share with them! Then consider a quick click or two to send something your grands would love from Gourmet Gift Baskets. Depending on what your grandparents like, you have so many options like the Baked Goods Sampler Basket, $29.99. This basket can really satisfy a sweet tooth and it’s time to return the favor that grandma did of making those cookies growing up. Inside this beautiful basket, rich brownies (chocolate chunk and cheesecake) are artfully arranged with tempting cookies (white chocolate macadamia, oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip and peanut butter.)

Whatever you do for grandma and grandpa, make sure you tell them how much you love them. That definitely goes the furthest!

Three Tips to Make Getting a Shot Easier for Kids

August 18, 2014 By Autumn Rose Reo 2 Comments

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.  #GiveaShot #CollectiveBias

Preparing for the new school year is much more than a new back pack and new pencils. With a first-grader now in the family, we had a long list of needs to get ready for school including making sure we had his required immunization records updated and a copy to complete his registration for his new school. Rather than competing for an appointment at the pediatrician, I wanted something close to home and didn’t require me sitting in the doctor’s office for a while.

#GiveaShot #Shop #Cbias Lead

Targeting kids ages 7-and up, the Get a Shot. Give a Shot (R), Shot@Life program at Walgreens is designed to make it easy and quick to get kids Back-to-School required immunizations! And best of all, when your child gets their immunizations, Walgreens pays it forward by providing a life-saving vaccine for a child in developing country through the United Nation Foundation’s Shot@Life Campaign.  And you don’t even have to make an appointment to get your vaccinations and most insurances are accepted!

Outdoors #GiveaShot #Shop #Cbias

Just like the commercial says, Walgreens is at the corner of Happy & Healthy! I’m a happy camper and immunizations help to keep my family healthy!

While it’s as easy as dropping by your closest Walgreens to get your immunizations, it’s difficult to comprehend that  1 in 5 children around the globe still lacks access to the lifesaving immunizations.  Since immunizations have become part of the public health recommendations and has shown that in some cases that it has completely eradicating or minimizing  some of the worst health concerns , it’s hard to imagine that a simple pinprick can be the difference between life and death for some many children. Just take a look at the historical rundown of the history of the immunization schedule, including the recommended shots today. (The history of vaccines at historyofvaccines.org is a great resource of seeing how immunizations has impacted us since the 1700s!)

Walgreens may make it easy to get the show,  but there’s still the  issue of not getting the shot to be as traumatic for the kids. So after a nice chat with my local pharmacists at Walgreens and a little of my own experience with shots and kiddos, here’s some helpful tips to make it even easier (or at least happier!)

THREE TIPS TO MAKE GETTING A SHOT EASIER

1. Just Cough

According to a study that appeared in Pediatrics in 2010 on Health.com, that when kids coughed before and after a shot, they experienced less pain.  Making the same action of “blowing out candles” may do the same thing, too!

#GiveaShot #shop #cbias #Cough

2. Diversion

I’m the first mom to admit that the iPhone has allowed me to get many things done with my kids when I hand it over. Too bad when I ask them to stop it’s a lot harder to get their attention when they are zoned in. However, when it comes to getting a shot, this is exactly what you want. Turn on their favorite show, app or even run through photos  just long enough to get that shot over with and on without a crying fit.

#GiveaShot #shop #cbias #Phone

3. Sugar

Since the day my son was born he’s undergone more needles than I ever have. Another hiccup was that he wasn’t supposed to get upset or do anything that would get his heart pumping overtime. So the first time the nurse popped up a little sugar water to give to him before a shot “to ease the pain” I was wowed how good it worked! Throughout his childhood, I’ve made sure to have a little “dum-dum” pop to lick right before the shot. It works like a dream and will for you too!

#GiveaShot #shop #cbias #Sucker

Once the shot is over,  the Walgreens’ pharmacists will provide an update to your own primary care pediatrician! And for moms like me that have a problem maintaining records, Walgreens even has an Online Immunization Record you can update to keep up with all your immunization appointments.

#App #GiveaShot #shop #cbias

From the Walgreens App

Don’t forget Walgreens is also the place for great deals for back-to-school supplies! Make sure to check out your Walgreens app to check this week’s ad and electronic coupons for all things you need – for you AND them. Supplies aren’t just for the kids; I picked up a few journals for my notes and as always, a new set of Sharpies ($ .49 when my coupon!) I also ordered a notebook with the kids’ photos at the Photo Center.

3 Must-Do Tips to Get Back-to-School Ready {Giveaway}

August 16, 2014 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

Summer’s been great, but  I’ll admit part of me is excited for school to start. However, before that first bell rings, the kids (and you) need to get a jump start on getting ready for the school year. Here’s three tips I shared on Fox Good Day Saturday that every family needs to know to get your year off to a great start! (And a giveaway, too!)

3 Tips

Practice Makes Perfect

Practice and get back into a routine now until school starts with setting alarms for waking up and going to bed.

Here’s the adorable clock I got for my first-grader in efforts to making waking up fun (He loves to sleep!)

Get Organized

Get a way to organize your family!  I use with my smartphone and Google Calendars to organize all of our schedules. Or you can use an app like Cozi if you prefer! But some prefer it to be written down,  so make a central location where everyone can see the calendar.

Make a Family Book and keep it updated! This has all the things you need from menus, basic phone numbers, policies, baby sitter instructions, etc.

Follow Autumn Reo {mamachallenge.com}’s board Back to School on Pinterest.

Think Smarter (not harder) when it comes to Meals

Breakfast:

Try to make a few items in advance to make a healthy breakfast a cinch. I like muffins and pancakes because they freeze well and best of all you can “sneak” in extra nutrition like one of these Go Go squeeZ pouches give you almost a full serving of fruit and used instead of sugar.

Dallas News | myFOXdfw.com

 Lunch:

Make them the night before! And make them fun & healthy without spending much time! My kids LOVE ready-made meals like Lunchables, but by making your own, you can make them healthy and save money. You can make your own pizza crusts in advance and with items that you have make a great and healthy meal your kid will want to eat.
Also you’ll want to multitask – use squeeze pouches for ice packs and then they’ll have them to eat in advance. Make sure you check out these other great tips on lunches from my recent visit to The Broadcast!

GGS

Dinner:

A little planning will go a long way, but sometimes that doesn’t happen with all the other stuff! I use emeals and it’s a plan that emails you the meal plan, recipes and shopping list so it takes all the work in being advance. Recommended by Dave Ramsey, emeals subscription-based service gives you a week’s worth of grocery shopping for your diet plan on a budget and the recipes so you aren’t busy figuring things out. Right now you can get 20% of any eMeals Meal Plan with the code SCHOOL!

Also make sure you think about items that can make one night and then use the leftovers later like roast for tacos or BBQ sandwiches. Or a rotisserie chicken makes the world go round! From chicken, pizza, stirfry, tortilla soup and more! (Sounds like another blog post!)

Easy & Quick Back-to-School COOL Lunch Ideas

August 12, 2014 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

Disclaimer: Affiliate links may be included.

BTS

I’m sure you’ve all seen Pinterest and these incredible lunch bento boxes. They’re cute, but let’s face it, most parents don’t have the time for that. No matter how cute it is. However, there is some science to making food attractive – it’s all about the presentation, right? I shared my tips with the gals at The Broadcast.

Must Haves for Fun Lunches

  • Muffin Tins: Make your own Bento boxes
  • Cookie Cutters: Easy way to make everything fun when it’s shaped!
  • Duct Tape: Make your own cool lunch box and then take it off for another one!
  • Note cards/jokes: Make them in advance or find premade ones on Pinterest to download and have ready

Meal Multitasking

  • Banana: Use them to write notes on the outside of the peel! Double-duty.
  • Bread: Use them for roll ups or “sushi” by using a rolling a pin to smash a slice of bread thin. Next add meat, cheese and carrots and pickles and then roll up. Using a knife you can cut them like sushi rolls.
  • Pretzels: Use stick pretzels like shish k-bobs and use your favorite meats, cheeses, etc.
  • Go Go squeeZ: Put the pouch in the freezer to use like an ice pack all day and then be ready to each at lunch!

My favorite timesaver is to MAKE YOUR KIDS HELP YOU! It’s a great time to be together, teach your kids about nutrition and get things done quicker!

And of course, lunch isn’t the only job that deserves a shortcut. Dinner can be crazy busy without planning, but I don’t even have the time for that! Thank goodness for eMeals.

EMeals subscription-based service gives you a week’s worth of grocery shopping for your diet plan on a budget and the recipes so you aren’t busy figuring things out. Dave Ramsey recommends this and so do other budget savvy websites. Right now you can get 20% of any eMeals Meal Plan with the code SCHOOL!

Get Thee to the Golden Potty: Potty Training Tips for Success {Baby BJORN Giveaway}

June 3, 2014 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

Did you know that June is National Potty Training Month?

Thankfully, as my “gift” my two-year-old graduated to “Ariel panties” last week (we capitalized on her love of the Little Mermaid to incentivize her to ditch the diapers.) However, it’s was a long road to get here and every child is different. I can certainly attest since some of my most-beaten down moments as a mom has been regarding potty training over the last few years.

Heck, just two weeks ago my daughter peed on my shoes in the middle of Target. Lucky me as I got on the floor with a clean diaper to clean up the mess and then shortly jetted out of the store in hopes no one had witnessed my moment of total meltdown. But it doesn’t necessarily have to be this way everytime, right?
So here’s a great list of top potty training tips from Pediatrician Dr. Robyn Strosaker, from UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital to act as some great pointers for potty training success.
And stay tuned below for an even better reward for both you and your child for potty progress from BABYBJÖRN.

Win a limited edition gold BabyBJORN smart potty for the ultimate potty-training success! The potty is compact and convenient, and the soft plastic edges mean that your child sits comfortably. It is easy to empty and clean and will rest firmly on the floor, even if your child moves about.

Six Tips to Finding Your Summer Babysitter!

May 15, 2014 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

As a mama with a lot of hats to wear (what mom doesn’t, right?), I have to call in for reinforcements for when the busy gets even busier like this week… Hello, babysitter! So today SurePayroll is working with MamaChallenge to bring tips about finding the right babysitter for your family. I know I’m taking notes and I suggest you do, too!

Experts suggest signs of a strengthening economy mean more people are back to work and the demand for sitters will continue to grow.  SurePayroll, which provides nanny payroll services to thousands of families nationwide, notes that parents looking for a summer nanny will need to get ahead of the curve using both traditional and social media methods.

“Parents are off to a good start when they create a nanny plan,” said Lori Bolas, director at SurePayroll, and a mother of two.  “They should outline exactly what their needs are, how long they need help for, and their expectations.  They should be as specific as possible.  Parents also should do some research and take a look at their own financials as they budget, they’ll need to make sure to budget for paying The Nanny Tax.”

Tip #1: Word of mouth
Parents should not forget the power of good old-fashioned word-of-mouth when it comes to looking for a nanny, both the new and the old-school way.  They can spread the word at cocktail parties, at PTA meetings, local school events and even walking their dog.

Parents also can call, text and email their friends, family and neighbors asking for recommendations, and requesting that they share their need with any interested candidates.  Good nannies tend to find new employment through their current employers, so make sure to ask other working mothers with nannies, since they are usually eager to help their trusted nannies find work when they are no longer needed.

Tip #2:  Social Media – Your Community in the Cloud
If a mom or dad belongs to a parents’ listserv or a social community network such as Facebook, now is the time to harness the power of social media.  Parents should write a detailed and thoughtful job description and post away!  They will want to make sure to turn on their privacy settings so that only their friends and family can view their request and information.  Parents should not be afraid to send the request out several times over the course of a few weeks, in case people don’t always check their timelines.

Tip #3:  Grass Roots Job Postings
Parents should get moving and hit the pavement!  They can post their job description on local church bulletin boards and ladies locker rooms at local gyms and country clubs.  The teacher’s lounges at the local schools and park districts also have places to post requests.  And don’t forget the jobs boards at local community colleges and even some high schools.  Be sure not to post too much personal detail and only use generalities about where you live.

Tip #4:  The Nanny Network
Nannies know and socialize with other like-minded nannies.  Parents should ask their friend’s nannies for recommendations that they can contact.  There also are social networks for nannies, and parents can visit these sites and post their request there as well.

Tip #5:  Nanny Agencies
For a fee, nanny agencies can connect parents with qualified summer nanny candidates.  The agencies can be a little more expensive, but the nannies are pre-screened, and the service usually includes a background check.  In addition, family satisfaction with the nanny may be guaranteed for a specific period of time.

Tip #6:  Online Nanny Websites
Online nanny websites are tremendously popular, of little cost to the parent, and are usually free for the nanny candidate.  Parents can post detailed information on what kind of seasonal nanny they are seeking, along with any photos they wish to share.  A background check can be included as well.  Sites like SitterCity.com and Care.com have found thousands of qualified nannies for parents across the country.

Finding a summer nanny can be fairly quick and easy if parents follow these suggestions.  Families should always be sure to carefully vet their seasonal help with a background and reference check.

Five Must-Have Baby Products (that I wish I had when my kids were babies) {Giveaway}

April 14, 2014 By Autumn Rose Reo 1 Comment

When I had my first child, I never thought I would have another shower again. There was no way to keep him happy or quiet, so when someone would come for a short visit I would ask for 10 minutes to throw some water on my face. Then my mother-in-law got me a Bumbo.

Life changed after that for the better. I couldn’t believe that anyone could live without one.

That was about six years ago.

Now Bumbos are like a basic necessity on any baby registry.

So when I had the opportunity to visit Dallas Market Hall for PBJ: Play. Baby. Juvenile, a juried trade event for the most innovative gifts and gadgets across the baby and children’s industries!

It was like a wonderland of all the things that made you say “why didn’t I think of that?” So here’s the rundown of some of my favorite finds that could have made those early months so much easier!

Mixie Baby is the only self-contained 2-in-1 formula bottle, making feedings possible at any time. Formula and water are stored in separate compartments of the bottle.  For feeding, simply press the button on the bottle’s bottom and shake to mix. Mixie is BPA, phthalate and PVC free and is dishwasher and microwave safe.

Can you imagine later at night being able to make that bottle with a click of the button? And it’s even compatible with Dr. Brown’s and BornFree nipples!

The Cup Catcher is a multi-use connector developed by a local Southlake couple to safety tether a sippy cup, bottle, or even your favorite toy to a car seat, highchair, stroller, wheelchair or shopping.

So instead of spending 10 times an hour picking up the cup off the floor while running through the grocery store or the mall, you could avoid bending over relentlessly!

Cuddlecloth® is an award-winning and patented instant release & hands free bath towel designed for baby’s safety, made for moms convenience. This patented, innovative and practical bath towel bib is made of 100% cotton terry spa velour, one of the largest, thickest towels for baby on the market.

Remember those first baths and you were so gently with your baby until it came time to pick him/her up with a towel, wondering if you were going to drop them? This is where this towel comes in handy. Just check out this graphic that shows you exactly why you want one of these instead of those terrycloth ducks that don’t have any purpose.

The Dream by Babyhome  is a highly designed travel cot featuring a unique adjustable leg system that provides three different uses for the same product. Its aluminum structure gives it a modern, sophisticated look complemented by removable and washable fabric in a variety of colors. A foam mattress, a honeycomb breathable pad and a fitted sheet are included.

We had three pack ‘n plays; whether it was cheap or expensive we somehow either broke them or couldn’t get them put up without screaming an expletive. There’s no “set-up” for these and is light as a feather.

The Emotion also by Babyhome, stands out for its easy maneuverability, compact folding and lightweight. It is a highly popular stroller because of its attractive design and modern colors, while it is also one of the most functional and practical on the market. With the use of available car seat adapters, Emotion becomes a useful stroller from birth to 55 pounds.

And at the end of all my stroller envy! I mean I’ve had five strollers and now I’ve found one that hits everything from cost (approximately $300), durability, comfort and weight!

“What was your baby product you couldn’t live without?”

Answer that and you could win a Mixie Bottle Starter Set ($40!)

Make Healthy Eating Easy with Facts Up Front

March 10, 2014 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

“This is a sponsored post written by me on the behalf of the Facts Up Front program.”

While the chance to go to the grocery store to enjoy a hot cup of designer coffee, taste the new cheeses at the deli department while listening to the perfectly customized soundtrack (with no set time limit) is right up my alley for a fun way to spend my Saturday, it’s not normally the case or the most important part of my trip.

As a mom, I’m on the move and most occasions you’ll see my whip into the store with five minutes to complete a 30-minute trip. And that’s really hard when you are a label reader like me; picking up each product and flipping it over to check out the calories, the fat and how best I can squeeze in the most nutrition into what my family eats and drinks. Unfortunately, if you multiply the number of goods in my cart to the amount of time it takes to find the item, pick it up, turn it over and read the stats…well this mom doesn’t have time for that and probably neither do you.

The grocery store experience has come a long way, but the Facts Up Front initiative is one of the best upgrades yet. A voluntary initiative led by the in 2011, Facts Up Front brings important information from the Nutrition Facts panel (normally found on the side or back of the label) and displays it in a simple and easy-to-use format on the front of food and beverage products.

Specifically, the Facts Up Front label displays four basic icons: calories, saturated fat, sodium and sugars, representing the key nutrients for which dietary guidance recommend limiting consumption in the diet as determined by the Food and Drug Administration.

FACTS UP FRONT LABEL EXAMPLE

Basically, the label makes locating some of the most nutritional facts easier to find without picking up the product, finding the stats and trying to discern quickly if this is a product that fits your family’s nutritional needs – making it a huge time AND money saver!

Just check out this helpful video on how to save time and money with Facts Up Front.

The Facts Up Front website http://www.factsupfront.org also contains interactive tools like a nutrition calculator, an interactive label, a nutritional interactive quiz, shopping tips, and delicious recipes.

With the Nutrition Calculator, in five simple questions the calculator provides caloric intake, along with the suggested amounts of daily nutrients needed for each day, including fiber, protein and Vitamin C. This way you can determine your estimated daily nutrient needs for themselves and their family members in order to maintain a wholesome diet and weight. Then with that knowledge head to the grocery store to find the Facts Up Front labels that match the recommended nutritional values.

The Facts Up Front program is growing with more than 50 manufacturers, retailers and wholesalers voluntarily implementing this special labeling on their branded and private label products including Nestle, Post Foods, Ocean Spray, PepsiCo, Campbell’s, General Mills, Coca-Cola, Kellogg’s, Kraft, and Heinz as well as retailers like Kroger. For a full list of Facts Up Front partners, visit http://factsupfront.org/Partners.

While there’s no technology developed to keep your refrigerator and pantry stocked with all the healthy and delicious products all time without going to the grocery store, the Facts Up Front initiative does make it easier and quicker to be informed and choose the right items for your family when you do go.

Then you might still have time and money for that latte when you’re done.

What’s your family’s healthiest go-to meal?

It’s as vastly different as the landscape as Texas. Now I’m off to @burntbeanco - #sequin here we come with the rest of the state!

🚨 ACT NOW: Keep Public $$$ in Public Schools! 🚨

Click Here (takes less than one minute):
https://www.txpta.org/take-action

Tomorrow, March 11, the Texas House Committee on Public Education will hear HB 3. Let’s make it clear: Public money demands public accountability!

Texans have rejected vouchers since 1957—yet lawmakers are once again pushing them through with SB 2 and HB 3.

💰 Vouchers drain public school resources.
📉 They don’t improve student achievement.
❌ They aren’t about "parent choice"—private schools choose their students.
🏫 Texas parents already have school choice.

Governor Abbott is making vouchers a priority, but Texans are pushing back. Lawmakers are feeling the heat from voters who refuse to let public schools be undermined.

📲 Take 1 minute to make your voice heard NOW!

📷Jackson and Taylor are 2 of the 5.5 million reasons why Texas must keep public dollars in public schools. I was a product of public schools and had an amazing experience in a rural community with some of the best teachers. Change needs to happen, but taking away resources like these from schools is not especially when they ste already underfunded and our teachers’ morale is at an all time low. Communities work better together not when you separate them further apart.

While many of the animals sleep, DinoLumia and DinoVision: a Jurassic adventure comes out to play, along with tons of holiday light photo opps and winter fun experiences. Enjoy catching up through self-guided, self-paced walk-through and spend time together while taking photos, which is ideal if you don’t like the holiday overload! And don’t sleep on Santa here, as he has a certain twinkle in his eye the kids always seem to like to catch up with (mom was even able to get a shot.)

And for the even bigger kids over 21, Dallas Zoo: After Dark, goes wild on Thursday, Dec. 12, 6-9 PM with eats, treats and holiday drinks, live music, and games and other ways to get you in the holiday spirit!

WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS // Classic Ch WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS // Classic Christmas

🌲 Coca Cola Classic Christmas - Choctaw Stadium in Arlington
🗓️ Now through Dec. 29

Growing up @cocacola made the holidays magic, so when Coca Cola Classic rolled down the road, we had to go peek! Partnering with @enchantchristmas, the experience is part lights, part photo opps and for my kids mostly FOOD and overall a lot of fun - all washed down with (of course, a Coca Cola!)

What was also great was a little walk through memory lane with Coke Christmas moments throughout the years - cue the polar bears and 18 wheeler!

Experience:
🎅Market Square (definitely hit up the t-shirts - reading each one is half the fun)
🎅 Snow Tubing (always our favorite)Ice Skating (truth: we don’t skate, but it’s perfect people watching)
🎅 Interactive Light up Dance Floor
🎅 @cinemark Theatre with holiday movies
🎅 Coca-Cola Lounge - 21+ Cocktail experience (looked great to go with the girls)
🎅 Santa Landing

And of course, the Eatery! Eyes (and mouths) got big here with featured food from State Fair of Tex winners like The Drowning Tacos (SO GOOD we then ordered the Birria Tacos, too all cooked onsite and with all the sauce!)

It’s the real thing!

WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS // Prairie Li WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS // Prairie Lights

🎄 Prairie Lights, Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie
🗓️ Now through Dec. 31 (NYE) at 6 pm

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without @prairielights- with a packed car with blankets, Santa hats, hot cocoa and coffee, and blasting holiday music while we sing them even louder.

A stunning two-mile drive through light park complete with a midway stop - The Holiday Village with carnival rides, amazing bites (corndogs, funnel cakes and more, oh my!) And this year we were surprised with a new light tunnel, reimagined walk-through forest and new displays, great photo opps, gifts, visit with Santa, a lighted strollable forest.  It’s perfectly timed for food, fun and a little time on foot!

PRO TIP: Go early, get tickets in advance and spring for the fast pass on the weekends and prime holiday times. And enjoy it and don’t try to rush it - enjoy it! That includes entry and the experience (so bathroom before you go, but thankfully there’s one at The Holiday Village and you get the corn dog.)

Named after Bangkok’s legendary road of entertainment of all kinds (Sukhumvit Soi 11), it seems fitting this newly imagined destination would find its home in Arlington’s Entertainment District. Anchoring the NEW @loewsarlington, @soycowboytx (also from @bbbutchers / @berghospitality) recently swung open the curtain this summer with an opening that made heads turn at every corner of this 12,000 sq. ft. of sexy space - with 3 unique bars, patio, viewable kitchen and dining room.

To call it a “Pan Asian restaurant” doesn’t do it justice with its rich menu of fresh sushi, dim sum, caviar, truffle, lobster, waygu (all things you don’t find in the home of the margarita machine and ballpark nachos.) And if you’re looking for entertainment, just take a peek into the expansive kitchen and watch your rolls or omakase be made. The cocktail menu is just as extravagant with everything from mezcal to Japanese whisky, you’re eyes will be just as happy as your lips upon your first sip.

While we experienced live music, fashion show and more as part of the opening, the cool smoke installation and the people-watching is definitely just part of the menu at Soy Cowboy you’ll have to explore.

Food Nerd Note: SoyCowboy is on the upcoming @dfwrestaurantweek menu for just $39, so it’s a steal to take your own trip on a budget. (Make your reservation.)
