Bounce Better with Sports Bras from Title Nine

September 30, 2015 By Autumn Rose Reo 20 Comments

One of my first blog posts was about my #mamachallenge to find the right way to “Tame the Ta-Tas.”

Hitting the gym takes on a whole new meaning if you are a gal with some sizable girls (and I’m not talking about your children here!)

Who’s worn two bras to stop the bounce? Who couldn’t wait to rip their sports bra off after a workout? Who’s bra straps are digging into their shoulders right now? We want to know, and we want to help! Read more in our latest blog post (link in bio). #bravangelists

The lack of good sports bras is often the biggest deterrent to regular exercise. The average American woman wears a 36C bra, however the vast majority of sports bras are built for A and B-cup women. However, Title Nine claims to have a solution to our bra dilemma. They tested thousands of bras and found just the right ones to not only support out workouts and our curves, whether you’re a 32AA or 40EEE.

In addition to the fear of being potentially judged for using bad form or potentially passing out during my workout, the concern that the girls are plopping around as I leap into a burpee or do a set of jumping jacks. But the Title Nine expert bra fit specialist, i.e. their bravangelists, will personally fit you to ensure that you leave with the right support.

Hallelujah for hooters!

And this isn’t just a treat for me, anyone in North Texas can find the support you’ve been searching for at the Title Nine Dallas Fit Fest on Wednesday, October 7 and Thursday, October 8. They have a variety of styles, colors and sizes to meet every woman’s needs, even the nursing mom.

  • Chat with a bravangelist by phone at 800.342.4448.

I don’t know about you, but the idea of having full support while completing my workout brings a smile to my face.  And since everyone should feel a little bounce in their step and not in their boobs, I’m giving away one personalized fitting at your local Title Nine store AND for a bra of your choice.

How Fish and Chocolate Can Help You Lose Weight

August 28, 2015 By Autumn Rose Reo 20 Comments

SponsoredPostDisclaimer

I’ve been chasing the same 20 pounds(or more) for what feels like 20 years.

You’d think that after running, they would have fallen off…

One could only hope.

I’ve done a lot of different things to lose weight, but it ain’t easy. It is hard work. It’s a lifestyle change. BUT I know enough REAL people who have to know that if you put your mind to it, anything IS POSSIBLE!

CVS-Fish-Chocolate

But before going all P90X on me, the first and most important step is taking a look at what it is you are doing and aren’t doing. Like what are you putting in your body and what vital nutrients, vitamins and such do YOU need. That answer alone can be a key into your first step into really making a lifestyle change.

CVS_Radiance_Flow_Chart_FINAL

CVS/pharmacy recently released radiance PLATINUM, a line of vitamins, supplements and nutritional drinks designed to provide the support and necessary resources to help reach your optimal health and fitness goals. These products include options that are certified non-GMO, gluten free and certified organic. The line includes several categories including herbals like tumeric, minerals, supplements like vitamin e oil,  fish oil, folic acid, and vitamins from A to Z.

DISCLAIMER:

Please consult your physician and speak with the pharmacy team at CVS to learn more about what vitamins, supplements, etc. are ideal for you.

After a daily multivitamin (yes, you need one no matter how good of shape you’re in), fish oil is another highly beneficial supplement to add to your regimen. Whether you are dieting or not, fish oil contains omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, nutrients that our bodies don’t produce naturally, but are critical to heart health. NOTE TO SELF: It should tell you something that OBGYNOs have pregnant women take fish oil with their prenatals as well to assist with the development of your growing baby to make them smarter.

CVS-Radiance-All

Despite its lovely name, radiance PLATINUM fish oil comes in a gel capsule and is easy to take with eight ounces of water, not with your morning coffee if at all possible. It’s probably not best for small children to take them, but teenagers should have no problem. Warning – if for some reason, you crack the capsule, fish oil will ooze out…well basically there’s a reason it’s in a capsule. So moral of the story – swallow quickly.

Like the actual protein that is life changing in tacos, fish oil has been shown to lower triglycerides (bad fats that are dangerous at high levels and can possibly lead to high cholesterol), prevents heart diseases, decreases the build-up of fat around the arteries and can reduce blood pressure.

Fish Oil

In addition to the popular heart benefits, researchers have found fish oil to help with depression, ADD, Alzheimer’s disease, Schizophrenia and other brain disorders. And it has also been known to make hair shinier and skin more luminous and dewy. If shiny hair, smooth skin and the possibility that you won’t lose your sanity doesn’t convince you to try fish oil, I don’t know what will.

Another fitness lesson sometimes forgotten is the importance of consuming enough protein. As women, we are afraid to eat or drink anything, especially protein, that may make the scary number of the scale rise. In reality, we’re actually causing our bodies more harm and risking serious injury. If you increase your intake of protein and nutrients with something like the All-In-One Superfood Chocolate Flavored Nutritional Drink Mix, you’ll receive the energy you need to not only complete your workout, but also not pass out once you leave the gym.

CVS-Superfood

The mix is vegetarian, preservative and gluten free and has 30 servings in each container, so it should last you about a month. You can mix one scoop per day with two ounces of water, blend it with a cup of milk for a cold drink, or add it to your protein shake/smoothie. Your immune system will receive a much-needed jolt, and you’ll find that your workouts are more productive because you’ve given your body the fuel it needs to operate. (I also highly suggest blending a 1/2 banana for a great way to change it up and to add a little fruit to your diet.) And it can make a great “treat” when you are craving a milkshake or iced drink, but without the negative impact to your waistline.

Starting out a new healthy lifestyle regime can be intimidating, but something as simple as taking your vitamins will really have a lasting impact on your health.

Stay tuned for more tips on how radiance PLATINUM can be beneficial to your mind and body including this:

ClassPass: All the Class with One Pass

January 30, 2015 By Autumn Rose Reo 14 Comments

Disclaimer

I like to work out.

I like to work out as long as it’s something fun.

If you tell me my workout plan is two, back-to-back days of the cardio machine, I’m out.

But who wants to pay for five memberships just so you can enjoy your yoga in one neighborhood but your crossfit in another? No one. That just doesn’t make sense.

Class-Pass-Logo

But this does: Meet CLASS PASS, the new pass to be able access hundreds of workout studios all over Dallas/Fort Worth with one pass and one price. For less than $100 a month you can hit up everything you could want to try and didn’t even know existed, with just one price.

Sounded like a good idea on paper (or online in this case), so I decided to take my CLASSPASS (affiliate link) for a little test drive to see if it was as easy as it says.

Opening my account I was able to search neighborhoods for participating studios as well as different types of classes.

First stop: Spin.

Off-The-Saddle

I love spin. Really, I do. I have enjoyed many spin class at FlyWheel Dallas, but this time it was time to see what Cowtown had to offer at an aptly named, “Off the Saddle” studio.

I was able to learn about the studio, my instructor and with a quick click, make an appointment for the day I wanted to come in. (You’re asked for 24 hours to make your appointment online and/or to cancel a reservation.) Done.

I got a nifty reminder of my class (actually a few so you don’t forget). Once I got there, I have them my name, they checked me off and I was ready to ride. That easy and no special paperwork or nothin’. Sweet.

Off-the-saddle

So was the ride of my whole new kind of spinning – literally off the saddle and almost standing the majority of the class. It rocked. And as compared to spin classes I’ve taken in Dallas? It just like when you compare Dallas to Fort Worth…Dallas is like a big, kickin’ party and Fort Worth was fun, laid back and just the right speed. Both gave me awesome work outs; it was all about my mood for the day. But both of them definitely utilized the disco lights. (If you’re really confused, then you should go to both just to see what I mean.)

Seeing it was really THAT easy to try something out, I decided to go really wild for a Lyra Hoop class. Don’t worry that’s not like hula hooping in your pantyhose, but a hoop suspended from the ceiling that you dance, move and stuff through. Well, just look here.

Lyra-Hoop

Was it hard? Um, yes. It was a workout once I got my ass in the hoop, but as you see there are not pictures of that since I left my camera on the floor as I got in the hoop and then was too tired to jump down to get it and try to get back in. That literally a one-time shot and I missed it. But I got up there. Really, I did. Mostly I wanted these women slither in and out like fairies in total amazement thinking: “go do some situps, Autumn.” This work out is not for the faint at heart, but man it’s lots of fun (think bachelorette party!)

What was crazy about Moving Canvas Dance Studio was its location…two miles from my house and I had NO idea. It offers all kinds of other workout fun like hip-hop dancing (calling to my inner Beyonce) or Burlesque (channeling the early-years inner Cristina Aguilera.) And then I came across even more fun with silks…Yep Arial dancing.

Silks

I thought Lyra was hard, well silks was harder…and it wasn’t. There was some stuff I couldn’t imagine doing and then some other stuff like a hanging cow (that wasn’t really the name, but I felt like one) that I was able to get up there once I started singing the “Rocky” theme sock in my ear. I was awesome for about two minutes. I still have ever intention of channeling my Cirque de Soleil, but until then I think there’s a little more Jenny Craig and some pull ups in my near future.

To finish off my 10-day try-it out challenge, I went a little less wild. I decided it was time to try Bikram Yoga of North Texas.

Bikram-Yoga-Arlington

I love yoga and have done it for a long time at a lot of places (if you really want a laugh you should read about my yoga pose: passing wind), but I had never done true Bikram. At 105 degrees I wasn’t sure how different it would be except hot and sweaty, which it really was for the entire 90-minutes I was there. But it was AMAZEBALLS. I looked like a wet cat and smelled like a boys locker room when I got done, but I could tell I had detoxed, burned calories, increased flexibility and avoided my smart phone for 90-minutes. I felt the zen – at least until I picked up my kids, but it was totally worth it. And then I went back a few more times since it only gets better the more you go.

Bikram-Yoga-Pose

So what are you waiting for? With a no-contract, no-fuss CLASSPASS you have all the flexibility you want as well as all the ease. And if you really want to try it out really cheap…right now they’ll even give you a 10-day pass for $10. Can’t really beat that or all the calories you can burn just by going first class with CLASSPASS.

What workout or new fitness trend are you excited to try?

1 Hour, 1,000 Calories. Title Boxing Club, Allen & McKinney {First Class Free}

April 25, 2014 By Autumn Rose Reo 1 Comment

Disclaimer: I’ve received complimentary classes for the purposes of learning how great Title Boxing Club is.

Working out.
It’s good for you and necessary for relieving stress, flexibility and losing weight. But with taking care of the kids, handling work projects and dealing with home responsibilities, it’s impossible most days to find a way to fit it into the schedule. And for a lot of mamas, there’s even guilt attached to taking the time to for you (and honestly, your health), even if it’s only for an hour.
So when we have the opportunity to bust a move, you have to make it count.
That means :30 minutes on the treadmill ain’t gonna cut it. And let’s face it: it’s B-O-R-I-N-G, which is why you aren’t trying hard to work that workout into your day.
And believe me, I had no idea I’d be there girl with boxing gloves throwing an uppercut into a punching bag. Don’t know what that means. Yea, I didn’t either until Title Boxing Club.

But if that idea of “Rocky” doesn’t sound like you either, give me just give me a second.
I bet burning up to 1000 calories an hour does. And getting all that built up stress out of your system does. Maybe it’s the pink gloves and purple wraps that will grab your attention. Or the fact that you have less than 90 days from now before you quite possible need to donn a bathing suit in front of other people…

Whatever your why, you need to give Title Boxing Club, with locations in McKinney and Allen a shot.
Intimidated by the pure concept of boxing?  I was too, but only a few minutes in class I had comfort in what I was doing and after just one class, I knew that I had gotten a full body work out that made me feel stronger, focused and ready to take on the fun of picking up kids, grocery shopping and the email list sitting on my iPad.
And all it took was one hour.
I didn’t have a clue what to expect when I walked in the door for my first class, but immediately someone showed me exactly how to put on my wraps, put on my gloves and how the class worked. However, if the Type A part of your brain wants to be ready to go on the first time, there’s a great video on how to wrap your hands or feel free to have one of the team members show you how each time you come until you have the hang of it.

Class breakdown:

·   The first 15 of class is the warm up: You’ll get your blood pumping with a complete range of exercises including stretching, jogging, calisthenics, jumping, lunging and squats.

·   The second part of class consists of 30 minutes working with the bag: The bulk of your workout is set up in three minute rounds that include basic boxing combinations followed by a one minute “active rest.” This gives you a break, while keeping your heart rate up.

·    The last 15 minutes is sculpting and resistance: You’ll use workout gear and body resistance to strengthen your core and sculpt your body while cooling down with floor work and toning exercises.

What I really love about Title Boxing Club is that everyone gets a workout. I’ve seen men and women, every color and ethnicity and all ages throwing punches and kicking the bag all in the name of fitness.
Still not convinced it’s for you? Then try it free!
The first class is free, so you can find out how amazing Title Boxing Club is and how quick you’ll be ready for your next class.
And it’s only one hour. And 1,000 calories…

Fitness Feels Good with FitnessMat {Giveaway}

April 22, 2014 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

Note: I was provided a Fitness Mat for purposes of this review.

Yoga is often considered a pathway to help with flexibility, stress reduction and overall health.

However, a few weeks ago, while I was in downward-facing dog, no part of me felt good. My knees hurt, my ankles hurt and my wrists hurt. All I kept thinking is “why am I here?”

While I am not the most fit person in the world, my pains weren’t coming from me not being capable, but actually the stress on my body of the poses I was doing with my crappy, paper-thin yoga mat.

While it was cute, matched my outfit and my price range, it wasn’t doing anything for my joints. I needed a mat with more padding, but still would allow me to do my poses in yoga or when I was doing other fitness moves.

The FitnessMat is therapeutic flooring innovation for those looking to enhance their fitness experiences will immediately benefit from the advanced technology of FitnessMats. The tried and true proprietary APT™ polyurethane material suspends and supports body weight, reducing impact and stress, while maintaining an inherently antimicrobial finish for easy cleaning and maintenance.

The FitnessMats also feature ADA-compliant 20 degree beveled edges that never curl and always lie flat, eliminating trip hazards. FitnessMats enhance every fitness experience by making it clean, safe, and comfortable in the privacy of your home or the public-facing gym spaces – designed to perform and built to last. Perfect for yoga, Pilates, free weights, stretching and more.

FitnessMats are available online at www.wellnessmats.com as well as select retailers.

The mats come in three classic colorways, gray, black, and brown and two different sizes tailored to your exercise needs. The 6′ x 2.5′ FitnessMats are long enough to support the entire body and retail for $239.95. The 4′ x 2’2″ FitnessMat are ideal for kneeling, stretching, and stepping and retail for $149.95. And they are also ideal for making fitness feel good again…well at least as much as working out can feel good.

Lose Weight in 2014 with the Mama Challenge Diet Bet

January 1, 2014 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

It’s no secret that losing weight has been one of my biggest “mama challenges.”

It’s always been something I’ve had to work at especially since I became a mom. But after looking back at all the amazing photo moments of this year and how much I wanted to Photoshop myself out of them or at least my double chin (and a few other very specific places), I knew I had to do something.

So rather than my normal New Year’s lose weigh bandwagon of diet + workout and maybe budge a little bit, I’ve decided I needed to up the ante. So the bet began.

The Mama Challenge Diet Bet that is. Have you ever done a big money pot for losing weight at work? Or did you ever want to be a member of the Biggest Loser to get you going in the right direction? Are you looking for a fun way to get the challenge of weight off your 2015 New Year’s resolution list?

Consider it the next step in social networking…social dieting.
And it’s really simple: You’ve got four weeks to lose 4% of your starting weight. To begin, everyone puts money into the pot to play – $35 dollars to be exact. After four weeks, whoever’s hit their 4% goal is a winner and splits the pot. Now I bet you are wondering how you know everyone is being truthful when it comes to weigh-in time? The Diet Bet has that all figured out with referees who make sure that everyone is truthful, but never shares your actual weight (score!)

So are you ready to lose weight and gain some money with Mama Challenge? It’s easy – you just have to sign up now to the Mama Challenge Diet Bet. The game begins on Monday, January 6, so make sure to sign up now!

I’m going to be kicking off a new fitness and detox routine to get my health in the right direction, so I’ll be sharing some tips on Facebook, Instagram and my Fitness Routine and Healthy Recipes Pinterest Boards.

And if you are looking for something to motivate you from budget-friendly healthy meal plans, adorable workout wear and even fun ways to get moving, I’ve got you covered! (If’ you’ve never read about my Hot Yoga moment or me trying out Surf Fitness those are both worth the read just for laughing-your-hiney-off-sake.

Now what are you waiting for?

Let’s get moving!

Twerking is OUT…Torqing is IN at FlyWheel Plano

October 2, 2013 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

When it comes to working out, running just doesn’t cut it. However, there’s nothing more adrenaline-pumping for me than a spin class.

I’ve done the spin circuit checking out all that DFW has and one that I keep reeling about is Flywheel. With two locations in DFW (Highland Park and Plano), this high-energy, upscale calorie-burning indoor cycling studio is exactly what this busy gal needs; a fun way to burn fat (oh, and it does), with awesome music that keeps me coming back for more. And for the tech-junkie in me, I can even log in to my account after class to see really what kind of work I had done during my ride. I mean how fascinating is that?

But now the experience has only gotten better with the addition of FlyBarre. Plano will be the first facility in Texas to implement FlyBarre, a total body sculpting class that blends the best of light weight training, dance, and core strengthening exercises. Unlike typical barre classes, FlyBarre incorporates more cardio with pulsating movements for a better and more effective workout.

That’s right – now you can work your legs, your tush and all those other places you don’t like to look at, with systematic movements that work each muscle group until you look like that photo of Jennifer Aniston you keep pinned on your board as motivation. And of course, in true Flywheel style, there’s awesome music to accompany the workout personally selected by the instructor.

Always keeping it fresh and fun this October, Flywheel will be presenting theme rides featuring favorite movies. So Disney fans should rejoice this Thursday, Oct. 4 for a Disney-inspired class at 6:30 PM. (Stay connected on their Facebook for all their movie themed rides this month.)

So are you ready to “Be Their Guest?” Then go ahead and get ready to fly like Peter Pan – especially since your first class is free at Flywheel.

You Spin Me Right Round, Baby with Terlingo Cycle

September 17, 2013 By Autumn Rose Reo 3 Comments

Try-it Tuesdays:

Disclaimer: I was invited to experience Terlingo Cycle for a free class for purposes of this review. All comments shared here are my own.

I haven’t done a Try-it Tuesday in quite a while since I have been on my Gladiator quest, so I’m excited I was able to amp it up this week with a new workout experience in Dallas.

One Saturday AM, about six years ago, I borrowed my old man’s spin shoes and showed up to a class to see what all the buzz was about with spinning. Since I hated biking, I figured this spinning was going to be even worse since it was biking AND we weren’t going anywhere.

Oh, I was hooked from the get go. Now after visiting four distinctive spin styles, I can honestly say that just because they all have bikes and play music, they aren’t all the same. This is certainly the case with Terlingo Cycle, the new cycle studio led by celebrity-fitness guru/cycle teacher to Dallas’ elite, John Terlingo.

Described as “delivering a spiritual cardio party, where the lights are dimmed and music is pumping,” TGO is exactly that. Certainly targeting the young, beautiful and social set of Big D, driving up to the studio, the parking looked like a lot for a luxury car lot with Mercedes, BMWs and Land Rovers. Once in the white walls of the 2,200-square-foot-space (which are still in the middle of construction), I quickly dropped my bag in the cubes, put on my shoes (TGO will provide those in the future), and jumped on a 31 state-of-the-art 2013 A.C. Performance Plus Schwinn bike (state-of-the-art, people) on the back row. Soon the lights went down and the service began.

For the next 45 minutes in only the intimate flicker of the candlelight, the packed room of 30+ spinners worked to reach the recommended RPMs by our spiritual fitness leader, John. Our musical journey traveled us from Jay-Z and JT’s “Holygrail” all the way to Diana Ross and Lionel Richie’s “Endless Love.” While my playlist sit much heavier on the hip-hop or hard-rock side of things when I workout, I did find myself belting out a little Elton John (one of my absolute favorites) aloud while we coasted through our upper body arm workout.

Like visiting a friend’s church on Sunday morning, I enjoyed my experience and definitely got something from my visit, but I still prefer my own place of spin-workout worship. However, in the words of Dolly Parton in Steel Magnolias,” …God doesn’t care where you go as long as you show up.”

Does Camp Gladiator Really Make You a Gladiator?

September 2, 2013 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

I received one complimentary one-month Camp Gladiator for the purposes of this review. However, all the views and comments expressed are my own.  About a month ago I accepted the mama challenge to participate in one month of Camp Gladiator. I didn’t know what to expect and to tell you the truth I was scared I couldn’t hang with the group – especially since I’m not the most coordinated individual to begin with plus my “extra luggage” probably didn’t help the cause either. However, my true desire to be a healthier person for me and a healthier example for my kids was enough reason three days a week to set my alarm clock for 4:40 am and make it to the 5:15 class.

And boys and girls, I’m not a morning person. But thankfully from good music (a fundamental must for me), interesting routines, and a great attitude from my trainer, it gave me the incentive to see it through. I was pretty skeptic that much could happen in the 12 camp sessions I attended during the 30 days, but at least it could get me into a very much needed routine of getting up early and working out (which is the only time I have available to exercise even though there are CG times available all day and all over DFW.) So every day I got up, sweat my ass off and got stronger.  The recommended CG plan includes meal recommendations as well as additional cardio days for campers to complete on their own time for achieveing maximum results. While I tried to maintain a moderately healthy diet plan, it wasn’t as stringent as it could be. Additionally, my only additional cardio was my awesome Friday Spin Cycle class at my local YMCA.  Needless, to say, I wasn’t doing myself any favors. But at least I was getting up and going.  So after one month it was time to compare my first day’s measurements with my Day 30 measurements. I’ll admit, I was nervous, but there was nothing I could change at this point except to continue to do what I was doing or do even more. No matter what. So the big reveal begins:

Arms:        Lost .5 inch
Chest:       Lost 2 inches
Waist:       Lost 1 inch
Hips:         Lost .25 inches
Thighs:      Lost 1 inch

I was pretty excited, but can you imagine what could happen if I stepped it up a little for another month?  Luckily for you this month Camp Gladiator is celebrating its 5th year of changing lives and 500 camp. So to share in the fun, they are offering MAMA CHALLENGE READERS their normal $95 camp for only $50. That’s a pretty good deal when you compare it to any other fitness plan you can sign up for (believe me, I know because I have done many of them.) Doubled-down and won big! Congrats to @daynetxbbq Doubled-down and won big! Congrats to @daynetxbbq for being named #7 in @texasmonthly 2025 Top 50 BBQ!

We’ve done our own BBQ stop shopping this last year from our own @hurtadobbq, @smokenashbbq and @225bbq in Arlington, @goldeesbbq and @panthercitybbq in Fort Worth, @zavalasbarbecue in Grand Prairie and @franklinbbq in Austin, no one can say that BBQ is BBQ. It’s as vastly different as the landscape as Texas. Now I’m off to @burntbeanco - #sequin here we come with the rest of the state!

🚨 ACT NOW: Keep Public $$$ in Public Schools! 🚨

Click Here (takes less than one minute):
https://www.txpta.org/take-action

Tomorrow, March 11, the Texas House Committee on Public Education will hear HB 3. Let’s make it clear: Public money demands public accountability!

Texans have rejected vouchers since 1957—yet lawmakers are once again pushing them through with SB 2 and HB 3.

💰 Vouchers drain public school resources.
📉 They don’t improve student achievement.
❌ They aren’t about "parent choice"—private schools choose their students.
🏫 Texas parents already have school choice.

Governor Abbott is making vouchers a priority, but Texans are pushing back. Lawmakers are feeling the heat from voters who refuse to let public schools be undermined.

📲 Take 1 minute to make your voice heard NOW!

📷Jackson and Taylor are 2 of the 5.5 million reasons why Texas must keep public dollars in public schools. I was a product of public schools and had an amazing experience in a rural community with some of the best teachers. Change needs to happen, but taking away resources like these from schools is not especially when they ste already underfunded and our teachers’ morale is at an all time low. Communities work better together not when you separate them further apart.

WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS - Dallas Zoo WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS - Dallas Zoo Lights

🌲 Dallas Zoo
🗓️ Now - January 4

Wonder what the @dallaszoo is like after dark? Once Upon a Wild Light comes alive with more than two million lights, 5:30 pm - 9 pm each night through January (so you can do this one with your family during the holiday break!)

While many of the animals sleep, DinoLumia and DinoVision: a Jurassic adventure comes out to play, along with tons of holiday light photo opps and winter fun experiences. Enjoy catching up through self-guided, self-paced walk-through and spend time together while taking photos, which is ideal if you don’t like the holiday overload! And don’t sleep on Santa here, as he has a certain twinkle in his eye the kids always seem to like to catch up with (mom was even able to get a shot.)

And for the even bigger kids over 21, Dallas Zoo: After Dark, goes wild on Thursday, Dec. 12, 6-9 PM with eats, treats and holiday drinks, live music, and games and other ways to get you in the holiday spirit!

WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS // Classic Ch WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS // Classic Christmas

🌲 Coca Cola Classic Christmas - Choctaw Stadium in Arlington
🗓️ Now through Dec. 29

Growing up @cocacola made the holidays magic, so when Coca Cola Classic rolled down the road, we had to go peek! Partnering with @enchantchristmas, the experience is part lights, part photo opps and for my kids mostly FOOD and overall a lot of fun - all washed down with (of course, a Coca Cola!)

What was also great was a little walk through memory lane with Coke Christmas moments throughout the years - cue the polar bears and 18 wheeler!

Experience:
🎅Market Square (definitely hit up the t-shirts - reading each one is half the fun)
🎅 Snow Tubing (always our favorite)Ice Skating (truth: we don’t skate, but it’s perfect people watching)
🎅 Interactive Light up Dance Floor
🎅 @cinemark Theatre with holiday movies
🎅 Coca-Cola Lounge - 21+ Cocktail experience (looked great to go with the girls)
🎅 Santa Landing

And of course, the Eatery! Eyes (and mouths) got big here with featured food from State Fair of Tex winners like The Drowning Tacos (SO GOOD we then ordered the Birria Tacos, too all cooked onsite and with all the sauce!)

It’s the real thing!

WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS // Prairie Li WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS // Prairie Lights

🎄 Prairie Lights, Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie
🗓️ Now through Dec. 31 (NYE) at 6 pm

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without @prairielights- with a packed car with blankets, Santa hats, hot cocoa and coffee, and blasting holiday music while we sing them even louder.

A stunning two-mile drive through light park complete with a midway stop - The Holiday Village with carnival rides, amazing bites (corndogs, funnel cakes and more, oh my!) And this year we were surprised with a new light tunnel, reimagined walk-through forest and new displays, great photo opps, gifts, visit with Santa, a lighted strollable forest.  It’s perfectly timed for food, fun and a little time on foot!

PRO TIP: Go early, get tickets in advance and spring for the fast pass on the weekends and prime holiday times. And enjoy it and don’t try to rush it - enjoy it! That includes entry and the experience (so bathroom before you go, but thankfully there’s one at The Holiday Village and you get the corn dog.)

Follow the “red light” to this one-of-a-kind e Follow the “red light” to this one-of-a-kind experience in DFW. 🚨

Named after Bangkok’s legendary road of entertainment of all kinds (Sukhumvit Soi 11), it seems fitting this newly imagined destination would find its home in Arlington’s Entertainment District. Anchoring the NEW @loewsarlington, @soycowboytx (also from @bbbutchers / @berghospitality) recently swung open the curtain this summer with an opening that made heads turn at every corner of this 12,000 sq. ft. of sexy space - with 3 unique bars, patio, viewable kitchen and dining room.

To call it a “Pan Asian restaurant” doesn’t do it justice with its rich menu of fresh sushi, dim sum, caviar, truffle, lobster, waygu (all things you don’t find in the home of the margarita machine and ballpark nachos.) And if you’re looking for entertainment, just take a peek into the expansive kitchen and watch your rolls or omakase be made. The cocktail menu is just as extravagant with everything from mezcal to Japanese whisky, you’re eyes will be just as happy as your lips upon your first sip.

While we experienced live music, fashion show and more as part of the opening, the cool smoke installation and the people-watching is definitely just part of the menu at Soy Cowboy you’ll have to explore.

Food Nerd Note: SoyCowboy is on the upcoming @dfwrestaurantweek menu for just $39, so it’s a steal to take your own trip on a budget. (Make your reservation.)
