Anytime there’s  a reason to celebrate with a spectacular hat, I’m in.

However, when the special occasion is to celebrate brave women conquering breast cancer, it’s not a reason for just a party…it’s the

Join me at the Methodist Richardson Medical Center, September 12 for theRecognizing courageous women and their journey to conquer breast cancer. The Tea Party is a not-to-miss experience complete with a spot of tea, perfect finger food, and a day of pampering with chair massages, makeovers and decorating hats and goblets!

The party’s featured speaker is renowned breast cancer surgeon, Dr. Jenevieve Hughes, who will be sharing the importance of 3D Mammography and how this technology will save even more lives in the future.

Tea-Party

[Tweet “After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the U.S. with 1 in 8 women developing invasive breast cancer in their lifetime. “]

While mammograms of any kind are proactive measures that many women already have in their preventative care, the advantage of the 3D technology (called tomosynthesis) is that it can detect the cancer earlier than before giving patients more treatments options. This special 3D technology takes multiple images of the breast at different angles and provides a more accurate diagnosis of the size, shape and location of potential tumors, requiring less call backs

Join women like Shelly Schmidt and thousands of others fighting cancer to celebrate their journey at the Mad Hatter Tea Party.

While the Mad Hatter Tea party is free, due to limited space, pre-registration for tickets is required.  Tickets will be delivered via email prior to the event after registering

Take a Deep Breath with Exhale Spa Dallas

August 18, 2015 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

All this back to school talk already has me in a tizzy and it’s not even started yet. However, when the schedule begins to weight on you, your breathing starts to turn into panting, and you feel like it’s a mad sprint everyday just to get the basics done – it’s time to take a time out. And breathe. And Exhale.

Highlands Exhale Spa

While sleeping probably sounds like the right plan, it’s actually a little mix of R&R with a twist of exercise that can get you on the road to restoration. A recent moment of OMG had me stop in my tracks and take a trip to Exhale Spa at The Highland in Dallas.

Tucked away in the busy, upscale hotel (where you’ll also find John Tesar’s Knife), you can escape all the mess with several options to just get away (even if only a few hours.) And surprise – just because it caters to visitors, you can definitely find a home at this place!

Yoga

My day started off with one of the most amazing yoga classes I’ve ever taken (and yes, I’ve taken a lot.) Not only did I feel like I should be in the middle of India, we worked through postures and a small dab of meditation that brought me back to my center space and stretched some things that I forgot I had. Thank you, Kristen for that Power Yoga class! (Believe me, you should dust off your well-being even if you don’t have time to do the living room table.) However, if you don’t feel inclined to downward dog, you can hit the barre!

Only seconds after the class feeling about 10 years younger and my brain actually caught up with the rest of me, I shimmied to a fantastic brightening facial with a technician that I should share her name with you, but I choose not to so I can still get into to see her! She not only got my skin back in shape, but gave me the rundown of all the things I should be doing to keep me feeling like I’m in my 30s and not looking like I’m twice my age. Remember, taking care of your skin isn’t something you should think about…it’s something you should be doing every day.

Exhale-Facial

Afterwards, a little time at the pool gave me the perfect trifecta to make my day (and my well being) complete. And that was only three hours!

Pool

Do yourself a favor and make sure to open that agenda and make time for yourself now. Not after you already needed it six months ago. Your body (and your family) will be shouting namaste with you.

Make sure to take advantage of this month’s special at Exhale Spa:

Save $10 with your first-time fitness friend

You’ll both get a card for $10 off your next fitness class purchase when you check in for your class together.

And save 25% with your spa buddy!

You’ll both get 25% off a 60-minute spa therapy upon in-spa checkout when you visit together.

Mouse Upgrade: Chuck E. Cheese New Menu

August 12, 2015 By Autumn Rose Reo Leave a Comment

Chuck E Cheese’s used to have this catchy commercial that stated “Chuck E Cheese’s…where a kid can be a kid…”

I’m sure you’ve heard it…over and over and over again.

While that may be true; it’s indeed a great place for kids and birthday parties, adults are sometimes left at the table for hours with cold pizza and soft drinks.

Not anymore.

The new menu items at Chuck E Cheese’s are made for grown-ups, and they’ve even introduced a little beer and wine to the mix.

And a little of that is never bad to keep up for hours at Chuck E’s.

Cali Pizza

Kids love Chuck E. Cheese pizza. Well, let’s be real – kids love any kind of pizza. It’s cheesy. It’s greasy. It’s yummy. Well, now adults will love their new and improved pizza just as much. The Thin & Crispy pizza has a new crust that has the perfect combination of crispy and crunch. And they’ve added new flavors to the mix including a Cali Alfredo Pizza, BBQ Chicken pizza and Mac-Cheesy Pizza. (This is actually where I get a little excited to claim a kid even know I want some too….) And apparently, the crust is so good it’s beat out Pizza Hut in a national taste test.

12141745_905667299482423_6817561698746239082_n

In case you missed it, Chuck E. Cheese’s  already added other grown-up friendly items to their menu from chicken wings to ciabatta sandwiches to wraps made with whole wheat tortillas. And if you’re being really good, you can forego all of those delicious fatty items and have a fresh item from the salad bar for $6.99. They even have gluten-free pizza for those kids and parents with food allergies.

11181584_885075291541624_2916335664925874297_n

And as you flip through the pages of your magazine or chat it up with other parents, you can grab a beer or enjoy a glass of wine. I call that a win-win for everyone. Just don’t tell your kids if Chuck E. Cheese’s becomes your new favorite spot.

Check out the menu for a full list of all of the offerings on their new menu!

See Dallas Stay at the Anatole with Staycation Fun

August 10, 2015 By Autumn Rose Reo 22 Comments

Disclaimer

Summer began yesterday, right?

Unfortunately, no longer do I understand the “dog days of summer.” Unless you’re referring to the speed of my dog, Birddie, running after a kitty cat dares to come near our wooden fence.

With everything else that’s been going on, a vacation had not been planned, but was definitely in order. However, with no time to get on a plane or drive in the car with just three days to spend, what was there to do? And where was there to go? Especially something that wasn’t going to be work with two kids….

Dallas

We’d stay home, but do a weekend downtown to explore all the places that we always drive by like the Reunion Tower Geodeck (a must-do for any trip to Dallas), take the little one to experience the Perot Museum to see science at work, and appreciate our city for all its worth. And without all the traffic!

Perot

We stayed nearby at the beautiful Hilton Anatole. With easy access to everything we wanted to see and do without all the stress, just being on property was tons of stuff to do without even leaving. (Doesn’t it look like Central Park? This is the inside green space at the Anatole.) Just walking around hand-in-hand with my kids to talk was a memory I’ll remember for a long time.

Anatole

A three-day weekend was exactly what we needed – for both me to relax and the kids to enjoy some fun. We headed over to the Geppetto’s Theatre & Workshop to see marionettes come to life for “The Little Mermaid” then off for some serious pool action.
Puppet

Then off for some serious pool action at the adorable watermelon-clad pool party happening all summer. With a swim-bar (for me) and outdoor grilling including hamburgers and hot dogs we were able to keep cool during the hot summer days in Dallas.

Slice-Anatole

Summer-at-the-Anatole

And then at dark, enjoy popcorn during the poolside dive-In movie, Paddington. All the fun that day wore those babies out so mama could enjoy time in the adjoining room to watch a Pay-Per-View movie with a glass of vino in my robe without any distractions (don’t event ask how long it has been since I had seen a new movie and the Anatole had tons available at my fingertips!)

Sleeping-at-Anatole

One of my favorite moments of the whole weekend was watching them order breakfast in bed. I admit waking up to a delicious breakfast delivered to my door and someone else cooking it and doing the dishes was h-e-a-v-e-n.

Breakfast-Anatole

You still have time to enjoy the summer fun at the Hilton Anatole, but you better act fast! Special packages until Labor Day include Mon-Thurs package savings up to $70 per night and Fri – Sun package savings up to $100 per night!

From dive-in movies to poolside grilling and outdoor games, the hotel has taken care of the planning so families can relax and enjoy more time together and do things the whole family can enjoy (REALLY). We even found time for a little “Mommy and Me” moment and indulged in summer-inspired spa specials at the hotel’s full-service V Spa. (Isn’t she happy?)

Taylor-Bubbles

Honestly, the weekend was exactly what we needed to getaway without all the fuss. And when it was time to go home, valet had the car ready, packed and 20 minutes later we were back at home. That was my kind of vacation, but even better as a staycation.

SUMMER AT THE ANATOLE

Hilton-Anatole

The Hilton Anatole’s “Stay & See Dallas” package includes nightly accommodations, breakfast for four, Wi-Fi, parking and in-room movie night complete with popcorn and candy starting at just $144/night.

Special Summer Offers at Medieval Times

July 31, 2015 By Victoria Williams Leave a Comment

If my ladies are searching for fun activities to entertain thou offspring as the summer draws to a close, consider the pageantry and thrills at Medieval Times, a magical medieval tournament that comes to life inside the walls of the King’s 11th century-style castle.

Medieval Times Castle

Medieval Times is one of those things that everyone must experience once in their life. You haven’t lived until you’ve worn those silly black and white crowns. And to make it even easier, Medieval Times is offering two specials that will make this experience fun for the kinds and easy on your wallets.

The first offer gets the one child in free with every purchase of one adult admission. You did the math right – a family of four would only have to pay for the two parents. Doesn’t get much better than that. This special is only valid Monday-Thursday until 9/3/15, but should make for a night of fun and break from the monotony of work during the week.

Click here to see a link to the offer page. When booking, make sure you mention this promotion or enter the code KFSWEB.

If you’re searching for a fun date night activity or maybe even want to do something in a large group with other family, the $35 may be your best bet – everyone gets in for the same price. Like the offer above, this one is also only valid Monday-Thursday until 9/3/15.

For more information about this offer, click here.  Use code 35SWEB when making your reservation.

Medieval Times

Both of these special offers include a hearty four-course meal prepared by His Majesty’s master chefs, two hours of action-packed live entertainment as the knights joust away for the championship. Complimentary parking so that your chariot stays safe during the performance.

Make your reservations by phone 1-888-935-6878 or visit medievaltimes.com.

7 Must-Haves for Hawaiian Falls Water Park {Giveaway}

July 23, 2015 By Autumn Rose Reo 20 Comments

*Affiliate links included.*

Guess what? If you live in Texas, you know it gets hot.  One moment it’s 75, spring and perfect, and moments later, you are faced with triple-digit-temperatures and the beaming sun. It’s just part of the perks in living in the best state in America…LOL.

So until the fall comes in a month or we experience a random “cool front,” the water park isn’t just for fun, it’s a way of survival as we to find ways to keep cool this summer.

7 Must Haves

One of our favorites you can find throughout North Texas is Hawaiian Falls. These family-friendly Water and NOW Adventure Parks offer right-size water fun at several locations throughout Texas including DFW-based Roanoke, The Colony, Garland and Mansfield. No matter what location you head to, the whole family can dive in or even rent a cabana for the day for the ultra-luxury convenience (that’s actually really easy on the wallet, too!

Adventure-Park ziplines

But before you head to the any of the nine, make sure your family has these key water-park essentials that will ensure everyone stays safe, cool. and ready for real water fun at Hawaiian Falls.

1)      Beach Bag
Large tote that can hold all of your summer necessities. This one is HUGE and looks like it would hold everything you could possibly need!

2)      Large Beach Towel
Dry off and rest from all of the playing on a big beach towel. Buying a beach towel is a special process, but the theory is – the bigger, the better, like this one!

3)      Water Shoes
Keep those toes safe as your walk (don’t run) around the waterpark. (However, you cannot wear watershoes on the large slides.) I just bought these in green for my son and he loves the cool design, color and I love the durability and price!)

4)      Hat
Shield yourself from the sun rays one layer at a night with a big floppy hat, and the one comes in a variety of colors. Plus you’ll look really cute as you cover that lack of makeup and wet hair. (It don’t matter, if you don’t mind…as long as you look like JLO, right?) And don’t forget the babies either with this cute, waterproof and UPF 50 one for the kids.)

5)      Sunscreen

Because who likes sunburns and wants to look like raisin?  Protect you and your family by applying sunscreen every hour at least, especially when you’re at the water park. This one is a perfect size for the beach bag and has an SPF of 50. Remember, the FDA just released that spraying on sunscreen isn’t effective; you need to apply a cream or one of my favorites, mineral brush-on for your face.

(6)      Cooler
Find yourself a small-to-medium cooler to hold lunch and cold drinks for the day. One with wheels like this one is recommended, and you can place your beach tote on top for easy rolling! Make sure you remember to buy a cooler pass, only $10 to have your arsenal of snacks and drinks with you all day.

7)      Large Plastic “Ziplock” Bags
Like sunscreen a bag for all your necessities like your mobile phone, money, etc. should be put in a plastic zip baggie or one of these waterproof bags to make sure your day doesn’t go from delightful to dead phone.

Arrive at one of these parks bright and early at 10 a.m. and prepare yourself for a day of relaxation and laughs. Whether you have a toddler just starting to walk or elementary-aged child who is yearning for a little bit independence, Hawaiian Falls has all amenities to keep your family happy.

Want to learn more about what you can bring or not bring to Hawaiian Falls? Make sure to check their FAQs.

Tickets range from $19.99 to $26.99 depending upon the park you choose and the amenities you select within the park (like the adventure parks which may have additional fees.)

OR you can win family four passes to Hawaiian Falls!

Choose Your Favorite DFW Fourth of July Event {Giveaway}

June 24, 2015 By Autumn Rose Reo 7 Comments

Depending on how you like to do Independence Day in DFW, you’ve got a lot of options! Whether you’re retro, rocker or just ready for fun, there’s the right place for you to salute the red, white and blue.

KaboomTown

To find the right Independence Party for you, you need to look past location and price and more at the experience. Kinda like choosing a church, you need to find just the right place for you to share your praise. So we’ve put together a list of great Independence events in Dallas, Fort Worth and the places in between based on your personality.

Ready to put a Feather in Your Hat? Then get ready to call it macaroni at Red, White and Boom in McKinney
This is as Americana as it gets! Red, White and BOOM! kicks off Independence Day with a parade and classic car, truck and cycle show in Historic Downtown McKinney. Hollie Cavanagh, American Idol finalist and McKinney native, will also be on stage to provide live entertainment until Sounds of America, the fireworks show, takes over the airwaves and skyline.

Wanna be in the Limelight? Then be a star at Southlake’s Stars and Stripes
Hosted at Southlake’s Town Square, you can be a big dog in a big town with their special Star Experience. While the event is free, VIP allows you reserved seating, special parking, perfect viewing, table for four, preset appetizers and water for a cost. You’ll also be able to enjoy the rest of the activities you expect like bounce houses, face painting, music and a zipline? Not sure about where you’d put that except maybe to the always packed Apple store so you can get ahead of the line.

Aren’t much for Red, White and Blue because black is more your color? Then Fat Daddy’s Star-Spangled Patio Party in Manfield is your TNT.
Shake it “All Night Long” at Fat Daddy’s Star-Spangled Patio Party. With a new extended patio, prepare for a fun night of rockin’ fun complete with AC/DC tribute band “Back to Black.”

Feeling Nostalgic for Fried Food and a Ferris Wheel? Fair Park Fourth in Dallas will be your favorite flavor!
Held at Fair Park, you can spend the day reminiscing about all your State Fair memories while you walk around Fair Park. Enjoy live music from  Razzmajazz Dixieland Band and at 7 p.m. and The Beatles tribute band A Hard Night’s Day, water features and access to rides, games and concessions within the State Fair of Texas Midway, starting at noon on July fourth. near the fireworks viewing area on the Midway.

Does Fort Worth by Way of Water Whet Your Whistle? Then Fort Worth’s Fourth has a tube waiting for you!
Fort Worth has a little bit of everything from pony rides, bounce houses water sliding, mini golf, ziplines and tubing at Panther Island! The event is free, but you can upgrade to better seating and close bathrooms, which I consider always to be worth the cost. And of course, there’s a big fireworks show that can’t be beat (I saw it last year from Willie Nelson’s Picnic and it was amazing – but see that note below.)

For those of you that always spent Fourth of July with Willie, I’m sad to report he’s left the building…Well actually he’s returned his annual Fourth of July Picnic to Austin, so you’ll need to get southbound 35 for that Texas country renegade roundup.

Do You Want the Best Show in the U.S.? Then belly up with half a million of your new best friends at Addison Kaboom Town!
This little city may be home to less than 20,000 people, for 30 years this nationally acclaimed event has brought more than half  to this suburb known for its food and fun to Addison Circle Park for what is called one of the Best Fireworks Shows in the U.S. (and that’s bonafide). On July 3, warbirds take over the sky, military bands fill the park with music, and surrounding restaurants put on their own watch parties as everyone waits for the 30-second show that is also simulcasted on 100.3 Jack-FM.

Word from the Wise: From my own experience (this event is one I’m proud to promote professionally), the way to do this event is at one of the fun parties like Cantina Laredo with a steel drum band, The Quarter with karaoke, or TGI Friday’s with bands all day. But there’s a ton to choose from, so make sure to check the list and see if you need to make reservations so they have a spot for you!

And from the fine folks at Addison, we’ve got a $50 gift card for one lucky winner to TGI Friday’s to help you get festive as we count down to freedom!

Doubled-down and won big! Congrats to @daynetxbbq Doubled-down and won big! Congrats to @daynetxbbq for being named #7 in @texasmonthly 2025 Top 50 BBQ!

We’ve done our own BBQ stop shopping this last year from our own @hurtadobbq, @smokenashbbq and @225bbq in Arlington, @goldeesbbq and @panthercitybbq in Fort Worth, @zavalasbarbecue in Grand Prairie and @franklinbbq in Austin, no one can say that BBQ is BBQ. It’s as vastly different as the landscape as Texas. Now I’m off to @burntbeanco - #sequin here we come with the rest of the state!

🚨 ACT NOW: Keep Public $$$ in Public Schools! 🚨

Click Here (takes less than one minute):
https://www.txpta.org/take-action

Tomorrow, March 11, the Texas House Committee on Public Education will hear HB 3. Let’s make it clear: Public money demands public accountability!

Texans have rejected vouchers since 1957—yet lawmakers are once again pushing them through with SB 2 and HB 3.

💰 Vouchers drain public school resources.
📉 They don’t improve student achievement.
❌ They aren’t about "parent choice"—private schools choose their students.
🏫 Texas parents already have school choice.

Governor Abbott is making vouchers a priority, but Texans are pushing back. Lawmakers are feeling the heat from voters who refuse to let public schools be undermined.

📲 Take 1 minute to make your voice heard NOW!

📷Jackson and Taylor are 2 of the 5.5 million reasons why Texas must keep public dollars in public schools. I was a product of public schools and had an amazing experience in a rural community with some of the best teachers. Change needs to happen, but taking away resources like these from schools is not especially when they ste already underfunded and our teachers’ morale is at an all time low. Communities work better together not when you separate them further apart.

WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS - Dallas Zoo WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS - Dallas Zoo Lights

🌲 Dallas Zoo
🗓️ Now - January 4

Wonder what the @dallaszoo is like after dark? Once Upon a Wild Light comes alive with more than two million lights, 5:30 pm - 9 pm each night through January (so you can do this one with your family during the holiday break!)

While many of the animals sleep, DinoLumia and DinoVision: a Jurassic adventure comes out to play, along with tons of holiday light photo opps and winter fun experiences. Enjoy catching up through self-guided, self-paced walk-through and spend time together while taking photos, which is ideal if you don’t like the holiday overload! And don’t sleep on Santa here, as he has a certain twinkle in his eye the kids always seem to like to catch up with (mom was even able to get a shot.)

And for the even bigger kids over 21, Dallas Zoo: After Dark, goes wild on Thursday, Dec. 12, 6-9 PM with eats, treats and holiday drinks, live music, and games and other ways to get you in the holiday spirit!

WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS // Classic Ch WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS // Classic Christmas

🌲 Coca Cola Classic Christmas - Choctaw Stadium in Arlington
🗓️ Now through Dec. 29

Growing up @cocacola made the holidays magic, so when Coca Cola Classic rolled down the road, we had to go peek! Partnering with @enchantchristmas, the experience is part lights, part photo opps and for my kids mostly FOOD and overall a lot of fun - all washed down with (of course, a Coca Cola!)

What was also great was a little walk through memory lane with Coke Christmas moments throughout the years - cue the polar bears and 18 wheeler!

Experience:
🎅Market Square (definitely hit up the t-shirts - reading each one is half the fun)
🎅 Snow Tubing (always our favorite)Ice Skating (truth: we don’t skate, but it’s perfect people watching)
🎅 Interactive Light up Dance Floor
🎅 @cinemark Theatre with holiday movies
🎅 Coca-Cola Lounge - 21+ Cocktail experience (looked great to go with the girls)
🎅 Santa Landing

And of course, the Eatery! Eyes (and mouths) got big here with featured food from State Fair of Tex winners like The Drowning Tacos (SO GOOD we then ordered the Birria Tacos, too all cooked onsite and with all the sauce!)

It’s the real thing!

WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS // Prairie Li WHERE TO CHRISTMAS IN DFW WITH TEENS // Prairie Lights

🎄 Prairie Lights, Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie
🗓️ Now through Dec. 31 (NYE) at 6 pm

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without @prairielights- with a packed car with blankets, Santa hats, hot cocoa and coffee, and blasting holiday music while we sing them even louder.

A stunning two-mile drive through light park complete with a midway stop - The Holiday Village with carnival rides, amazing bites (corndogs, funnel cakes and more, oh my!) And this year we were surprised with a new light tunnel, reimagined walk-through forest and new displays, great photo opps, gifts, visit with Santa, a lighted strollable forest.  It’s perfectly timed for food, fun and a little time on foot!

PRO TIP: Go early, get tickets in advance and spring for the fast pass on the weekends and prime holiday times. And enjoy it and don’t try to rush it - enjoy it! That includes entry and the experience (so bathroom before you go, but thankfully there’s one at The Holiday Village and you get the corn dog.)

Follow the “red light” to this one-of-a-kind e Follow the “red light” to this one-of-a-kind experience in DFW. 🚨

Named after Bangkok’s legendary road of entertainment of all kinds (Sukhumvit Soi 11), it seems fitting this newly imagined destination would find its home in Arlington’s Entertainment District. Anchoring the NEW @loewsarlington, @soycowboytx (also from @bbbutchers / @berghospitality) recently swung open the curtain this summer with an opening that made heads turn at every corner of this 12,000 sq. ft. of sexy space - with 3 unique bars, patio, viewable kitchen and dining room.

To call it a “Pan Asian restaurant” doesn’t do it justice with its rich menu of fresh sushi, dim sum, caviar, truffle, lobster, waygu (all things you don’t find in the home of the margarita machine and ballpark nachos.) And if you’re looking for entertainment, just take a peek into the expansive kitchen and watch your rolls or omakase be made. The cocktail menu is just as extravagant with everything from mezcal to Japanese whisky, you’re eyes will be just as happy as your lips upon your first sip.

While we experienced live music, fashion show and more as part of the opening, the cool smoke installation and the people-watching is definitely just part of the menu at Soy Cowboy you’ll have to explore.

Food Nerd Note: SoyCowboy is on the upcoming @dfwrestaurantweek menu for just $39, so it’s a steal to take your own trip on a budget. (Make your reservation.)
